Why is the NFL talking about Image so much?

I don't Know about you guys but every time you watch NFL games you see beer commercial, sex and drug with side effects. The fans scream, holla, curse at the visiting team, and get drunk in front of kids. I don't understand how people expect so much from the players, when they can't even act right. You can't go on a golf course screaming when they are about to take a shot. when most of the guys In the NFL never had anyone to teach them how to save money and to make good choices.

Don't go and throw logic into the NFL. The reason is just the same as in the other major sports. The leagues, (except for baseball) are built upon the talents of African American athletes... but the hypocrisy is that the revenues come in primarily from White fans, White-owned corporations, and ad revenue. The NFL is scared that promoting the hip-hop, thug-life mentality of their athletes will ruin the billion-dollar industry that is making lots of people wealthy... They are all about Tom Brady and Peyton Manning... The league does not want a whole bunch of PacMan Jones', Ray Lewis' or Mike Vick types... That kid from the Broncos was gunned down in a limo in Denver when he should have been at home getting some sleep... The league is tired of the Chris Henry's and they want to make it clear to the players that playing in the NFL is a luxury and not your right. The NFL does have programs to educate rookies about what kind of unwanted attention to avoid and even how to manage money... but like anyone else in life, it is not your employers job to teach you your ABC's and 123's. The NFL will make sure that the money keeps coming in.

an incredibly small share of NFL gamers get arrested. a miles better p.c. is assisting out charities and communities. seem how the hot Orleans Saints gamers fairly pitched in after Katrina and did extra for the folk of Louisianna than the government. Its a shame that the few rotten eggs get further information time than the sturdy men. The NFL would have a small image issue yet incredibly recommended human beings will comprehend how plenty sturdy the NFL, its gamers, and human beings linked with it, incredibly do for this us of a.

you kidding me, when you work into the nfl dude, college isnt easy. Thats why people have academic problems in college. It is true that some kids major in useless things like political science, but they do need to meet requirements. Beer commercials are the same as all commercials, they make somethign funny so you buy it. Like the fed ex commercials, you dont need it but you stilll think its a great company. Also not all nfl players are rich ya know....some actually need to live in an apartment

Thats exactly why golf sucks. Sex with side effects? i would suggest intercourse with people outside your immediate gene pool. Even most NFL players raised in poor environments still know wrong from right, if the choose the former they have made an conscious adult decision to do so. I hate when people who have never played the game of football, like yourself, ask foolish questions about the sport.

While the NFL is the most image concious of the 4 major sports leagues, they do have their troublemakers. Even amongst my fellow Eagles fans at games I have often wished I could use a phaser set on stun to shut a lot of them up.

There are fans like that in every city and I agree that letting kids see such behavior, gives them the wrong idea that it is acceptable.

I think Charles Barkley said it best; "I am not a role model." What he meant is parents should not look to athletes to raise their kids and teach them right from wrong.

I'm with you, and think that it's pretty trashy and poor how alot of athletes, and coaches behave, act, and talk. It really sends a very poor message.

However, there are two exceptions that I can think of: Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith. They are both high character guys, that are solid men both professionally and personally. (Dungys' book: 'Quiet Strength' is a great read)

I don't know why the NFL promotes selfish idiots like Terrel Owens and Chad Johnson and not quality character guys. (There are alot of them) I guess it's the Jerry Springer effect on our culture.

it's a thug culture in th nfl, guys like Vick, Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, bring all their drama to the field. Granted, the media eats it all up like pigs at the trough and exploit their shortcomings because they sell books, mags, tabloids and jerseys. Also it's not a game anymore, it's a business, and no business wants their business tarnished by individuals whom exhibit poor behavior and make bad choices. Look for more suspensions and maybe a banishment before it gets under control.
