I am 40, I just lost my mum whom I was caring for all these years due to her failing health, and because of...

....which could not make anything of my life, is it too late to start thinking of a career, is it a waste of time( I don't need the money), should I be pursuing spirituality instead.

i think setting around and having nothing to do is the worst thing on your health that i can think of. its never to late to do the things you want to do with your life. you should make the most of it go to school if you want, travel if you want. and its in my opinion that searching after god is always a good thing, if you look you'll find.

It's never too late to pursue anything in life. I am sorry for your loss, but if this experience has taught you anything, it's that this life is short. our lives are a mere speck of dust in the wind. Tomorrow isn't promised to any of us... so live like today was your last day! I know that sounds kinda cheesy, but it's true in all it's cheesiness!! don't sit at home twirling your thumbs, go out and go to school, get a job, cure cancer whatever. I'm not saying do anything extreme like base jumping, or sky diving. but do what makes YOU feel happy.

No, it's definitely not too late for you to have a life. 40 isn't old any more. And you need to figure out what you want to pursue and go for it. Take a little time to take stock of yourself, your strengths and weaknesses, and decide what you want the rest of your life to be like. Good luck to you.
