San Francisco area restaurant for birthday celebration?
My husband's birthday is this weekend -we are flying into SF from Houston on Saturday (with 2 little ones - 2 1/2 yrs & 10 months old) - want to take him somewhere cool to eat on Sunday - maybe at a beach or pier? we love all kinds of food - especially seafood. Dont mind the expense of a really nice restaurant, BUT we'll have the kiddos in tow, so looking for a fave of the locals that is not too dressy and is OK for kids to be there. Dont mind driving to Sausalito...or anywhere nearby. thanks!!

Scoma's is definately a great place to go. Also, if you're down by Fisherman's Wharf, you might wanna stop by Bubba Gump's on Pier 39. I loved that place when I was a kid, mostly because I got to flip that sign that says "Run Forest, Run" when we didn't need help and "Stop Forest, Stop!" if we needed help.

Are you from the West Coast? If not, I recommend In N Out Burgers. I know, it sounds cheap/unromantic, but really, the best burger in the area. Yum. Rainforest Cafe might be a fun (but touristy) option. For an $18 pp budget - I recommend Boudin (clam chowder), but I'm not sure if it's open during dinner. How about Houston's - classic American food (don't order steak). Ana Mandara is a nice fusion restaurant, but maybe a bit expensive. If you're willing to walk a little further, maybe Palomino? Or Gordon Biersch? Around there is Taylor's Automatic Refresher - yummy sweet potato fries and shakes. Or if lunch is an option... maybe walk to the Ferry Building during the Farmer's Market and buy some fruit, cheese, meats, bread and have a picnic! Get gelato afterwards in the Ferry Building. Have fun!

Fisherman Wharf- It's a very popular pier and tourist attraction in SF. Your kids will love it too, from there you can go anywhere in the heart of SF.

The Rainforest Cafe is really good, im pretty sure it has seafood so...but its completely decorated with trees and animal that move. your kids will go crazy for it and its not dressy for clothes. but its not a kiddy resturant so you wont feel out of place to go there for your husbands bday. highly recomended...im pretty sure its by pier 31 in san francisco, i know its right by the pier and in the thirties so ya...hope you like it!
