Sometimes Experience McDouche comes off a little bit holier than thou.
Not always, but it is definitely a factor in many of the thumbs downings. I only give thumbs downs to non-answers so it's not me. Chill people, chill.

1. ANYONE can post answers here and give thumbs up or thumbs down.
2. Some of the 'retired cops' here are lying about their experience and don't know anything.
3. Some of the experienced officers occasionally forget that the laws in THEIR jurisdiction are not the laws EVERYWHERE.

Maybe the people that are giving a thumbs up are lacking knowledge in the law enforcement field just as much as those that are sending in their incorrect answers.

You don't have the market cornered on this forum, it happens all over Yahoo!Answers... Thumbs up and thumbs down are more related to whether or not people like the answer - not whether or not the answer is correct...
What I love the most is when someone asks a question and then says something like "...and don't tell me there are only 8 planets because I know that's not true..." :)
And then we also (on Astronomy and Space) are asked constantly about the end of the world in 2012, when will the asteroid that is head for earth destroy us, where can I look for planet X, and so on...
Just smile and keep on answering!! :)
Take care.

Because people who are in law enforcement suck at explaining things, especially their own actions. Furthermore, most people in law enforcement couldn't explain or justify a law to save their lives, all they know how do is carry guns and tell people what to do. Ever ask a cop why certain things are illegal? They don't give a ****, their only concern is controlling the populace, and as such they're good at stating things but are horrible at explaining them.
Yeah, I got a lot of thumbs down, and I take it as a compliment knowing how many of these cops are on here, and if you read the above you'll realize how I take their opinions. Its a fact that they've got too much power, it becomes especially apparent when one shoots an eight-year old in San Diego but doesn't have to give his testimony from jail. A negative opinion from them is a positive to me. Why not chew on this everyone:

Depends on how popular and well-articulated your answers are... a person who doesn't have experience in law enforcement can still know the right answer and better explain it than someone who has experience in law enforcement.

Because if it seems like the answer is applicable to the situation, then it deserves a thumbs up. If it doesn't seem to be accurate then it gets a thumb down. (I guess, I really don't know all the exacts of it.)

a lot of people with knowledge of "law enforcement" tend to sound uppity and like one other person said, "holier than thou". Cops should have to pass a "people skills" test to be allowed to be police officers and being given a refresher on the Bill of Rights every few months should be required, as well. We might not have as many problems with cops having attitudes, then.

The asker is biased towards one answer or they already have an answer in there head and who is closest to it wins.
Dont get frustrated though, you are still helping people. Keep doing the right thing.
