Does this scripture describe "spiritual blindness" ?

2nd. Kings 6:15 - 18

And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master ! How shall we do ? And he answered, Fear not : for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man ; and he saw : and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. And when they came down to him, Elisha prayed unto the Lord, and said, Smite this people, I pray thee, with blindness. And he smote them with blindness according to the word of Elisha.

When Elisha warns the king of Israel of a Syrian plot to kill him, the king of Syria sends a military force to Dothan to capture Elisha. Seeing the city surrounded by the armies of Syria, Elisha’s attendant becomes fearful. Elisha assures him: “Do not be afraid, for there are more who are with us than those who are with them.” Then he prays to Jehovah to let his attendant see the great force that is with Elisha. ‘And, look! The mountainous region is full of horses and war chariots of fire all around Elisha.’ (6:16, 17) When the Syrians attack, the prophet again prays to Jehovah, and the Syrians are struck with mental blindness and led to the king of Israel. Instead of their being put to death, however, Elisha tells the king to spread a feast for them and send them home.

It is a literal experience recorded for us. There is one meaning....it is what it is. When we read the Word there can be many applications. Yes, one application of this passage is about spiritual blindness. There are other applications also such as the concept of faith......believing what you can't see. The power of the Word gives us different applications according to what God reveals to us at the time. Next year, you may come across this same scripture and something else will pop out for your understanding. I love that about the Word.

When the Arameans came down to get him, Elisha prayed to the LORD, "Strike this people blind, I pray you." And in answer to the prophet's prayer the LORD struck them blind.

    19

Then Elisha said to them: "This is the wrong road, and this is the wrong city. Follow me! I will take you to the man you want." And he led them to Samaria.

    20

When they entered Samaria, Elisha prayed, "O LORD, open their eyes that they may see." The LORD opened their eyes, and they saw that they were inside Samaria.

In it`s way yes. There are those who regardless of what they read or hear preached can`t see the truth. Some just won`t see and then there are those that the Bible says God won`t keep convicting ,of calling after awhile he won`t call again and he`ll turn away. The Holy Ghost convicts man of their sin.Man is called many times but if they keep refusing to see the truth and denounce God then after awhile they won`t feel that conviction again.

Dude, read that again...that guy was way high! He "opened his eyes" and saw a whole bunch of horses and chariots with fire? Now c'mon you can't believe that...and if you do, what is so holy about fire? Isn't your inferno filled with it? So is to assume that anything with fire around it (and not burning) has some control over that element. And who has control over fire? C'mon, say it....the devil! So...if this was done by God (and he is controlling the fire), then God is who?....C'mon, say it again....yeap, you guess it.

Christianity is just that, a loop of posibilities. It takes you around and around in this "what if", "but" and "why" road that is so scary...so you are good to God, not because he is holy, but because he will send you to hell...you are scared of him.

Like most scripture, it could be interpreted a dozen different ways, depending on what agenda you want to push.

I think the seeing of spiritual Angels was spiritual eyes opened.

The blindness of the enemy was physical & spiritual.
