no windows has word built in. you do have word pad and notepad but you have to buy microsoft office for word.

allough if you type in to google open office then there is a free program just like word that you can use to type documents, letters and will do anything word does. many people use it

Notepad and Wordpad are both part of Vista and XP. No version of Windows has ever contained any part of MS Office. Office has always been a separate program that must be purchased and installed.

You can always try OpenOffice, which is a free, open source office suite. Download and install Java first, then OpenOffice.

new pcs will have vista on, or will cost you more to get XP, on vista you normally get a 60-90day free trial of Office 07.

then you may continue and buy it or chosoe another, i use 07 but i dont use it often a full version was preinstalled..

I like www.openoffice.org as it is similar but differnt... fun and has alot of secrets in it, it is a good Calc, Spreadsheet, word and so on! also, its FREE!

The actual applications such as Word, Excel etc are not part of any operating system though sometimes if you buy from major retailer the computer comes with Works but for something better such as Office you have to buy.

the MS office does not depend on the OS. It is installed after. It depends on the version of ur MS office. You must have a really baisc one.

The OS installation disk should be included with your laptop. If the OS disk is missing call the company from which you bought your laptop and ask them to supply you with one.If not ask them what you can do to get a copy of the installation disk. However, today most companies include the O.S re-installation disk with the whole package so I do not think that you need to re-purchase another copy of the installation disk.
