appropriate clothes to wear in cairo?

Hey, welcome to Egypt.

I'm a fairly light skinned 100% Egyptian girl, so I kind of have insight to life as the foreigner in Egypt if you know what I mean. So I advise you to wear nothing that is higher than the calves, nothing shorter than a T-shirt and absolutely nothing that reveals cleavage.

This will be appreciated as it is respectful of cultural norms and will help you avoid getting unwanted attention. In some parts of Cairo men can have no problem with whistling at, cat calling, even groping women they feel are inappropriately dressed- especially if they are foreigners. Groping is rare, but cat calling and whistling isnt.

You do not need to cover your hair, and don't wear ultra tight clothes, but definitely have looser clothes on hand if you want to visit more conservative areas of the country. Do not wear pants/skirts that reveal your legs in conservative/religious areas.

Cairo is one of the world's good megacities. 1) EGYPTIANS ARE KIND PEOPLE AND LOVE FOREIGNERS.

2) TRY NOT TO WEAR SO TIGHT OR SO SHORT CLOTHES. I WOULD BETTER ADVICE U HAVE SOME DRESSES WHICH ARE WIDE AND NOT SHOWING.

3) THE WEATHER IN EGYPT IN THE SUMMER IS REALLY HOT , SO YOU SHOULD BRING WITH YOU SOME REALLY LIGHT HOME CLOTHES OR ELSE YOU WILL NOT BEAR TO LIVE HERE FOR LONG.

MAKE UP IS OK OK BUT DO NOT TRY TO BE OVER PRESENTING IT............JUST SIMPLE WILL DO.

in summer , Cairo is warm and humid.

therefore bring over cotton clothes and comfortable sandals.

your clothes should be modest , ie, not too low , short , or tight .

you wont have to cover your hair or anything , but just wear what wouldnt attract attention so that you could move freely .

it is advisable to drink bottled water .

Cotton T shirts and cotton loose knee length skirts are the best. Also cotton pants or jeans.

Do not wear short blouses that reveal the stomach, also no low pants that reveal your waist. You can wear them with a T shirt that covers your skin.

Wear comfortable shoes or sandals.

wear capri pants. T shirts you like just not low cut. The local young muslim girls will be wearing long pants/skirts and long sleeve shirts or t shirts. Go to youtube and search Dream Park in Egypt you will see how the locals dress. If you in a tourist setting everyone will be dressing in shorts etc but will get looks from locals. t

wear what u want and what u used to wear in ur country,but you've to know that weather in Cairo is hot in summer .

Its pretty hot during summer so i suggest you bring light and comfortable clothes.Maybe tops, shorts, skirts simply whatever fits you.

There are no dress codes so dont worry you are free to wear anything.

Girl wear what you want whether you are a muslim or christian, just whatever you are comfortable in.Dont listen to ultra-religious fanatics.

It is mandated in Judaisim, Christianity, and Islam to cover the whole body, and the hair. Loose fitting as to not show the curves of the female figure. So if u are a Christian, dress like one..same if youre a jew or a muslim.

@saudi These arent rants these 'opinions' are taken from the Quran, the Bible, the Torat, Hadith, and the consensus of the ulema. thousands of years of religious opinions...and most important the commands of Allah (swt) HIMself. Your problem isint with what I write, its within yourself. You just cant stand being told you are in error, you want others to share your sins so You feel better about it.
