What is the weather like in Chicago in late august beginning of September?

Chicago is my very favorite place in the whole wide world, excluding home. I've been there many, many times. Late August/beginning of September is still very much summer weather. Expect high 70's, low 80's maybe higher in the daytime, 60's to high 40's at night, barring freakish weather.

The Shedd Aquarium is great, as are the Field Museum, Navy Pier, Millennium Park. There are so many places that are must-sees. Check out the Chicago CVB website at http://www.choosechicago.com/Pages/default.aspx for tons of info.

Some of the people that posted answers here are nutso! Late August/Early September is usually still hot and humid. Chicago is a great city though b/c it's right on the lake, so it's not soooo bad.

Honeymoon...we're known for our restaurants here. There's a wide range of places. Try going on Metromix.com and click on the restaurants section, it gives you the cuisine you're looking for, reviews, addresses, sometimes menus. I use it all the time.

I love going to the Shedd! I would recommend going during the middle of the week though, it's a mad house during the weekend. Try to see if you can score tickets to a Cubs game. Wrigley Field is stop on one of the El lines, I'm not sure which one though (I always drive). If you can't find tickets online, try the ticket scalpers. If that doesn't suit you, then just want the game at any one of the bars around the field like the Cubby Bear or Harry Carey's Tavern (it just opened). Also, shopping! We have the Mag Mile and State Street and lots of boutiques hidden all over. Finally, you have to visit the lakefront. The beaches are great for that time of year. We have lots of different boat rides too. Bring some roller blades or rent a bike and do the lakefront trail!

In late August/early September it's usually still pretty warm. It will probably be at least in the 70's maybe even 80's. It doesn't usually start to get chilly until about the end of September. As for a must see... personally I really like the Lincoln Park Zoo.

There is a museum pass you can get. The weather is hot and dry like late summer with the very beginning of fall in the air. Years ago, it was hot high-summer weather, but now it is fall, strange, huh?

Plan on HOT. Chicago gets its first cool front about middle of Sept. Shedd aquarium is nice and there are dozens of other attractions many of which are world class. Google "Chicago" and pick out a few.

Do any of you people that have already answered even live here? 60 degrees? Never. Count on it being hot and then you'll be prepared. Sometimes it cools off around Labor Day, but not always. Dress for summer.
