Has anyone ever heard a sonic boom and if so when?

Hear them everyday at work. Work F-15 Flight Test.

Standard Test Flight profile required going Supersonic. Usually done at high enough altitude, as to not cause any problems, but still very audible on the ground.

Why would a sonic boom make the newspaper?

Do you have a military base nearby? That is the most likely reason for a sonic boom.

i've got heard a selection of of massive booms! they could have been sonic booms! I heard the massive growth sounds while residing no longer a ways from an airport! What qualifies for a sonic growth? I in all likelihood heard it! We heard one when we watched a space rocket take off from Cape Canaveral when on holiday in Florida.

I used to hear them most everday as Concord flew to the USA from Heathrow. Usually the bang came as they flew out of UK airspace off the North Cornwall coast.
