where can i find abandoned churches in vt or nh? Also who would i call to find out about them?
My friends and i are starting a new church in the upper valley area in lebonon new hampshire/vermont area. What we would like to know is how we would go about researching abandonded churches and who we would call to find out about them. We have a place to use temporarily but it's our dream to have a church. By friends are both ordained, and i'm their secretary. For now we are a very small non ordained church, but will probably grow quickly. Serious answers only as this is a serious question. Thanks.

Real estate agents.. The county tax office ask about abandoned (tax foreclosure) building once used as churches)...
Talk to some of the older residents many of them know of out of the way buildings once used as churches...

You're in luck!
There's a real decline in churchgoing in America. Seriously! People are leaving church by the droves.
Last Summer, we were traveling th back-roads of New England, and I swear, we must have seen over 100 completely abandoned churches!
This is the truth.
I'm sure you'll be able to find one - just drive around, find an abandoned church, write down the address, go to the County tax office, pull the tax card, call the owner (on the tax card) and buy it!
But I don't know how successful you'll be.... People are really getting tired of waiting thousands of years for someone who just ain't coming back - and being forced to believe something as ridiculous a the stories of the Bible.
Besides, scholars have now revealed that Jesus Christ never really existed at all.

Real estate agents would be a good start you could also do searches for properties in your area it would probably be zoned as commercial.
