How fast am I able to jack up a house?

We bought this house, it's about 90 years old and it realy needs to be leveled. But, can I jack it up in one day or what? I heard that it would take around 3 to 6 months to do. There are no wires or pipes running through my mian support beam. Please advise

Before jacking anything I would carefully examine all the support beams in the house. You may also want to have a structural Engineer (or very experienced contractor ) examine the structure and recommend the best jacking points.

Some 90 year old house are built like a tank but others may not stand the extra mechanical stress during jacking.

You could do it in a day or two. You need to get the right kind of jacks and you'll have to support everything after the house has been raised.

If you're renting the jacks as I'm sure you are, I'd take them for a week. You'll need to set them on something on the ground and be adjusting them several times. They'll need to stay while you're shimming. Depending on how much help you have, I'd take them for a week.

we jacked a house up last year about 5 inches. my bf had LOTS of workers that day and they went very slowly. i believe it only took them a day to get it up, but it took awhile to get the new foundation stable.

be careful and good luck. it's always a scary thing when you are changing structural stuff even if you are fixing it.

If you have pains in your knees and back, then, bend over and straighten up as quickly as you can.

    Hurt?

That's what your house will do.
