Why are Democrats more worried about Tibet, than China's pollution problem?

http://en.epochtimes.com/news/6-6-10/42510.html

The problem of air pollution in China's cities remains serious. In 2005, 39.7 percent of the 522 cities surveyed were either moderately or seriously polluted.

What say you?

Because they like to pick and choose. Funny how we are all supposed to be up in arms about global warming yet they don't seem to bother with that.

China annexed Tibet in 1950. This is like the Soviets did to Afghanistan, just moved the military in and claimed it as their own. However, Tibet, being peaceful buddhists didn't have a significant army so the annexation was unnoposed. In recent years there have been more reports of Tibetans protesting and opposing Chinese rule and the Chinese authorities did what they do all over China, came down hard. So in reality, China doesn't have a problem with Tibet, but Tibet has a problem with China

I say you have absolutely no basis for that statement other than your own opinion. That you know what democrats in general are more worried about is extremely doubtful.

Plenty of people care about both. In the link you provided, "The Epoch Times" (which is kinda of liberal) has an Editorial about Tibet and several articles about also, in addition to articles on the environment and other stuff.

The people here claiming they know how democrats think crack me up. They are just repeating right wing radio talking points that they have heard 1,000 times. They are told "how democrats think" by right wingers. . God forbid they should actually listen to what a democrat has to say on the subject.

This is not a partisan issue.

McCain said today he would boycott the opening ceremonies if the Chinese do not address the Tibetan issue, including a meeting with the DaliLama.

The Olympics have brought the Tibetan issue (which has been going on for 50 years) to the forefront.

One of the reasons China got the Olympics is because they promised to work on their human rights and oppression, including Tibet.

We will not take on China regarding pollution because we owe them lots of money and we depend on them for imports/exports.

It is ironic that we (and other countries) outsource so many manufacturing jobs to China because of their cheap labor and low overhead, yet we scream on them for pollution.

We (and the rest of the world) can't have it both ways.

I'm more concerned about Russia and China waging chemical war on one another.

Ask an ecofraud about carbon credits and the resultant recitation is Mt. Sinai quality. However, query about benzine in the Songhua River and it's like Micheal Moore's relationship with the Food Pyramid

To my 413th account 1st response above:

Dirty Air Kills People...YOU do the math.

In respose to your question the real answer is that it's not the popular thing in the news. Democrats are only concerned about what's popular....Not what matters.

They are part of the same problem. A totalitarian government in China.

It is yet another thing they could do to look like nights in shining armor. and it isn't something republicans r too worried about right now because tht is China's problem, so it makes them look like the good aunt tht every1 wants and republicans look like the drunk brother-in-law.

Liberals always follow the "cool trends" of what is hip to protest, and Tibet is in fashion today. Who knows what their cause will be tomorrow?

Because it isn't Iraq or Afghanistan. Any reason to demonize this administration will do for them. Bush could do exactly what they want and they will still complain and blame and just rip him a new one.
