What's the most interesting baseball quote you've ever heard?
This is definitely an opinion question...there aren't any wrong answers. :)
I think one of the most interesting quotes I've ever heard is:
"During my 18 years, I came to bat 10,000 times. I struck out about 1,700 times and maybe walked 1,800 times. You figure a ballplayer will average about 500 at bats a season. That means I played seven years without ever hitting the ball."

"Baseball? It's just a game, as simple as a ball and a bat, yet as complex as the American spirit it symbolizes. It's a sport, a business, and sometimes even a religion."

The pitcher has got only a ball. I've got a bat. So the percentage of weapons is in my favor and I let the fellow with the ball do the fretting.
-- Hank Aaron
If a woman has to choose between catching a fly ball and saving an infant's life, she will choose to save the infant's life without even considering if there are men on base. ~ Dave Barry

I thought that quote was from Pete Rose. Anyway, Ted Williams had a few good ones.
"Baseball is the only field of endeavor where a man can succeed three times out of ten and be considered a good performer. "
"If I was being paid thirty-thousand dollars a year, the very least I could do was hit .400. "

By the way the Quote : "You've got enemies? Good. It means you actually stood up for something once in your life." Was first quoted by Winston Churchill NOT Eminem. "The spirt is stronger than the body and true strenght lies within" "In Life those who break the rules are trash, but those that abandon their friends are worse than trash!" "Those who do not understand true pain can never understand true peace"

Edit: Most Yogi Berra "quotes" are apocryphal, and have to be taken with a grain of salt. Almost any goofy thing anyone has said has been attributed to Yogi, but very few can be traced back to him.

Yankee great Yogi Berra was the greatest for quotes. Some of my favorites:
1. "It gets late early out there"
- referring to the difficulty of playing outfield in Yankee Stadium in day games, since the early evening shadows already affect the fielders' vision unusually early as compared to other ballparks
2. "I take a two hour nap, from one to four."
Referring to how he prepares physically for evening games
3. "Typographical error my ***, it was a clean single."
- his comment after he noticed that the next day's papers credited him with 2 hits instead of the 3 which he made in the game; the sports editor said "sorry, it must have been a typographical error" and the above was Yogi's reply
4. "Well, swing down."
- when he was a manager, this was his advice to a player who was complaining that he was in a rut and kept swinging up at the ball
5. "It ain't over til it's over."
- his most famous quote

If I were playing third base and my mother were rounding third with the run that was going to beat us, I'd trip her. Oh, I'd pick her up and brush her off and say, "Sorry, Mom," but nobody beats me.
Leo Duchrer said it...it got to me because it just shows how much people would give to win!
Also the obvious Lou Gehrig quote
"Today I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the earth"

"stephen"
John Kruk actually said that during a game. The movie stole the line.
Kruk was in the on deck circle, there were two girls sitting in the 1st row, one girl said to another "he doesn't look like an athlete to me". Kruk said "Lady I ain't no athlete I'm a baseball player"

I like quotes that can be applied to other aspects of living. "Luck is the residue of Design" Branch Rickey Former president of the Brooklyn Dodgers. When Babe Ruth signed a {,I believe it was for $80,000 } huge contract He was told he was making more than the President of the U.S. Ruth replied "I had a better year".
