Is anyone else following the murder trial in Michigan where this little psycopath---?

named JP,18, is being charged with the stabbing, murder, decapitation, burning, mutilation and dumping of "a friend" Dan Sorensen, 26 ?   I am not really surprised that this weird little dude is evidently a deviant, evil, sick b******.   What I can't believe is that he has more than three friends who all participated in some measure with the crime and countless others aware of the crime --none of them who even knew the victim or knew him minimally and had no anger towards him-- and not one of them, no one ever tried to talk JP out of it, told anyone of the plot that he enumerated (ostensibly) several times, refused to participate or notified police or any officials of the knowledge they had previous to or following the murder ?!  What is the social phenomenon which allows an entire group of 17-18 years old to absolutely deny in themselves any compassion, regard for others or respect for themselves ?  I cannot believe the cold, heartless, flat emotion testimony so far -- Your thoughts ?

I don't know anything about that case but I have noticed this week in particular- teens behaving in ways that are really scary.

This all goes back to bad parenting in my opinion. If children are taught compassion for their fellow man and are taught that there are consequences for their actions this kind of thing wouldn't happen so frequently.  
Some kids could just be bad seeds from the start but society has been on a steady spiral downward for the past 30 years as evidenced by: unwed mothers, prison populations and murder rates .
Used to people stayed married,everybody went to church and children were disciplined - now not so much and it shows.

I don’t know this story but I don’t have too, it is all too familiar. I am sorry to hear you’re lose of a dear friend and you’re lose is felt too often around us all. In this nation and random acts of violence and brutality I think we are over-due for a good research project to find some meaning to this rash of violence. I 2nd your question, "what is the social phenomenon"?
