Getting a cash advance from any credit card is usually a very bad idea, since there is a fee for the advance and the interest rate is usually higher than normal purchases. You would normally need to sign something for a cash advance, unless you get it from an ATM using your PIN.

I don't think you can do it with Discover, unless you find somebody who will give you cash and let you make a purchase for them with your Discover card, like at Best Buy, perhaps someone buying a large item, or at Home Depot, asking someone who is there in line waiting to check out. I had that happen to me, a woman came up to me in line at Walmart and said she would charge my purchases if I would give her cash because she needed cash for whatever. I didn't mine, and she did just that, charged the items I was buying, then, I gave her the cash for it. I was later told that this is some kind of scam, but I don't know what. I got my items and the woman got the cash she said she needed.
