first sentence of a speech?
i'm in this debate about evolution/creationism and i can't come up with a good way to start. i'm not really that good in front of a big crowd, so i need a way to start that won't make me feel dumb but it gets everyone's attention. i'm debating that creationism should be taught in schools. does anyone have a good speech starter? you don't have to agree with me on creationism/evolution i just need a good way to start

I think I would start with a joke. If you know a good one liner. Like I went to a meeting yesterday where I was suppose to pick up a can of mixed nuts. On my way to the store to pick up the mixed nuts my sister called and asked what I was doing I told her I am on my way to pick up mixed nuts for the meeting. She said in a very serious voice how many of those people do you have to pick up!! Ha Ha . But with your topic may bring up what came first the chicken or the egg. Some power greater then evolution must have created the the beginning or else what could have. And go with what you know I am sure you have some study materiel to back your self up good luck !

Learning is in itself a debate. Learning is most often about looking at the various sides of an argument or the different perceptions, and developing a conclusion. If we are presented with only one side, there can be no conclusion. "A" does not equal "C" with out first being conbined with "B." To learn, one must be given access to both sides, or the ten sides, or the ten thousand sides of an argument before it can be facilitated. Learning cannot begin or even hope to exist without perspectives. So, why teach Creationism along side of Evolution? More appropriately, why not?
