What do you think?

Do you think Pit Bulls are loving or mean by nature and why? I will give my opinion after I reseive a few answers.

Update:

Well I have been raising Pit Bulls for 4 years now. Have a male that is mine named Bo. Also have 2 boys ages 2 and 7 that Bo loves more than anything. Like right now my 7 year old is sick and Bo won't leave his side not even to eat or go out. Now if that is not a loving dog I don't know what is.

Update 2:

Also here is a video I made about Pit Bulls.

Pit Bulls are very good natured and one of the reasons they are used for fighting is because... they want to PLEASE THEIR OWNERS. :(

I think Pit bulls are lovable goofballs that love to smile. They only get a bad rap because of irresponsible breeding and the owner not knowing what they are doing. Not knowing how to properly train and socialize such a powerful hard headed stubborn dog.

The breed of dog that i don't trust is the Rottweiler. Now those dogs can be unpredictable and mean and will turn on you without any warning.

well........ i've never actually met one except in mexico the people i was building a house for had some but i didn't touch them or anything (they were chained up by a big warning sign) i think that in the past they've just been bred to be like that... but if people start breeding really nice ones they would all probably be nicer. i think that it depends on the parents of the dog and how they're raised... but overall i just love all dogs and don't think of pitbulls as mean....

I KNOW pitbulls are loving by nature, they are just trained to be mean. When pitbulls are born into a fighting home they want human attention, but are kicked when they attempt to get attention. Chaining a dog with barely any room is a disaster waiting to happen, they do this to make the dog mean. pitbulls are no different from any other dog...You HAVE to raise them right or they will be mean, even a labrador would do this. Someone neglected their lab and it turned on them and killed their daughter! Even the nicest dogs can be mean if you raise them wrong.

By nature they're the most loving, affectionate dog breed on the planet. You'll never know how much a dog can love you, until you own a pit bull.

I think they can be very loving by nature.

I've never met a mean pit bull. I've been around TONS and never met a mean one. That doesn't mean they don't exist, just means I've never been around one. (Or the type of people that own them.)

All the ones I've met have been sweet, caring, and very clownish dogs. I even have one. She is wonderful, and her parents were wonderful as well.

I think they get a bad rap from the ones that do 'go bad'. When mistreated, they can become very dangerous because of their size.

A dog is a loving pack animal, which thrives off of human attention and company.

And a dog is a dog, no matter what breed.

Dogs are not born mean-they are blank sheets of paper when they are born, and what they become from there is completely in the hands of whoever they are with. Even in the case of pitts. They may have a horrible reputation, but this is not because of the dogs-but because of the hands they fall into.

Like any breed you have to watch out for the bloodline. You can have a bully that's a real slob or one that could turn on you. Check out the history and make sure your mutt doesn't have too much mongrel in him. Cheers.

Pit Bulls are great dogs, except when they are abused or trained to kill in dog fights obviously, which happens too often. They got a bad reputation. Its German Shepards who are the assholes

As with all breeds, some are good, some aren't. You have to evaluate each dog individually. I've never been bitten, threatened or injured by a pitbull, but I have been bitten by several other breeds of dogs. A pitbull-looking dog did jump one of my dogs on a walk, but I've also had my dogs jumped by german shepherds and golden retrievers.
