Which is best, French food or Italian food?
Which "cuisine" do you prefer? Both the Italians and the French lay claim to the finest food in the world. I must admit I have eaten both and like much but it is a hard one to call, in the end I would have to go for Italian.... as long as I could have some Breton crepes and a cassiolet as well!!! What about you guys? French, Italian or other? Why?

I once was invited to eat at the French Senate. I thought, rather naively, that as these Fr...ench politicians usually do themselves fine, that I was in for a first-class bit of graze... Wrong! The starter was fine, loads of cold cuts - never mind the woman-food! - ham, etc. But I took it gently, because I was waiting for the real thing. And in the end, it arrived. A pathetic medallion of nondescript meat that you could put your thumb and forefinger round, with three green beans arranged like a fan, a couple of roundels of carrot, and a dab of some sort of sauce to finish what was essentially more a piece of abstract art than serious food. Pretentious buggers, the French. Can't stand them. Or their pretend food.
German food, though, is great. Huge pieces of pig, lots of potatoes or noodles, loads of gravy, and me in the middle looking happy!
But of the two choices above, it's Italian any day. Love the stuff.

Italian. They don't seem shy with the spices/garlic and create some wonderful combinations while the French tend to--IMHO--rely too much on rich creams/sauces/small portions. I lived in the south of France but travelled to Italy while I lived there, and I can definitely say that I loved Italian cuisine better.
Pizza, lasagna, spaghetti in a million different ways, PASTA in a million different ways, meat dishes, vegetable dishes...and the gelato for dessert...it beats the pants off of French filet mignon any day.

French food is very nasty. I stayed in France for a while on holiday, and I can tell you because I know. The food they sell in the French restaurants in South Africa is not really French. It is simply ordinary food served with a little thing to make it seem French to people who do not know. Real French food is very, very nasty. They do not cook their beef. It is raw! If I were a Zulu or a Matabele, I would be happy, but I do not want to eat raw beef. Or Horse.
I saw someone eating a snail once. I do not like France.
Italian food is very good, however. But my favourite food is from Zimbabwe, even if it is sometimes difficult to find.

honestly it's hard to decide...but french cuisine is more towards fine dining, so you can't really enjoy the food you are eating, if you get what i mean..
italian, on the other hand, is all about eating to your heart's content...just look at the pasta, spaghetti...yumm!
i guess to french, looks are more important...it's like an art..but to the italians, satisfaction is way more important!

Without a doubt Italian food!
It's brilliance is indirectly proportional to that of Italian politics.
My comment about French food - very small portions and much ado about nothing.
