Is Al Gore lying about global warming since Spring is so cold?

I think Gore got it wrong. We're not having global warming but cooling. Perhaps he's working for big oil or nuclear power companies.

Gore has a history of lying. So do Bill and Hillary and Obama and Chelsea

    yes.

Inconceivable to me that people try to make this about Democrats and Republicans. Clearly too much cool aid.

Actually, global warming stopped in 1998.

But in reality, if you ask yourself "what is the proper climate for the earth" so we will know if there is any change, the answer is that it's always changing. Ice ages come and go.

Drive around America and you will realize that almost every place the rock is sedimentary. In some places "schist", which is where sedimentary rock got heated and has almost turned back to granite. Sedimentary rock is layered because it was deposited where it is now after having washed down from somewhere else. A lot of America used to be sea bottom.

Coal in the ground is evidence that once there were plants, then dirt got washed over it and now it's under mountains. We dig up dinosaur bones in what are now deserts. Native peoples (Indians) remember 5 times the San Juachin Valley (which makes up most of central California and contains 6/7 of the most productive agricultural Counties in USA) was an inland sea.

The great flood, recorded by ancient Sumerians and recounted in the Noah story almost certainly was a result of the last ice age melting and about 8,000 years ago sea levels got high enough for the Atlantic to breach the Pillars of Hercules, flooding the most fertile valley there was in the "world" (middle east) creating the Mediterranean, and then flooding over some more to create the Black Sea. This probably also accounts for "Atlantis" as told by Homer.

There was severe climate change about a thousand years ago which wiped out the Viking occupation of Greenland and the Anasazi Indians in the American southwest.

So things change. Earth's "climate" is dynamic not static. Same with Mars which is also experiencing "global warming". No cars there, maybe it's

    dare I say it?

    The Sun.

As for Gore, he's making plenty of money with his carbon credit exchange business. I believe he's made about $100M between that and his movie and books and speaking tours. So Al is doing just fine.

And the hard facts are that it doesn't really have to get any colder for another ice age. It just has to get a little wetter.

Yes he has it wrong. Out temperature is the same as 1998. We are significantly cooler than the 1930s. Science isn't an opinion it needs be able to be proven and global warming has been proven wrong though the Democrats and media don't like that idea. In Chicago we've had more snow this year than any season on record and it snowed again last night. Not much though more snow in mid April. Our last summer was the coldest on record for the southern hemisphere (their winter). The ice shelves they claim are shrinking are significantly thicker and the scientists in Canada who monitor this say this is a 40 year pattern. They say the polar bears are at risk of dying though out of the 12 populations they've kept data on since the 1950s 10 have significant increases and are continueing to increase in numbers. The 2 remaining are similar to their original numbers. Overall the Polar Bears are doing very well. John Coleman who founded the Weather Channel says Al Gore should be sued for fraud because the global warming claim is false and he's making money off false claims which is illegal. Al Gore's house is an energy hog whereas George Bush's is incredibly efficient. Goto Snopes.com and search for this. It's amazing. I could go on forever though the real point is that the media doesn't give anything except the Democrat false statement that is pro-global warming. What happened to journalists reporting and people being intelligent enough to determine the answers?

I think he is "talking through his hat", but I think that he is sincere, so I do not think he is lying. He is bit like Rev. Jeremiah Wright, he really believes what he says. Michael Crichton - no conservative he - has written a book debunking global warming. If you were a climatologist, you now have funding, a girlfriend or a boyfriend and you are "cool", all because of global warming. You used to just be a geek, so it is no surprise that the average climatologist likes global warming.

I remember when Dr. Paul Ehrlich bet the late Mr. Simon that there would be shortages of minerals, etc., by the year 2000, and Mr. Simon won handsomely. Once Bush II is gone, the oil prices will come down. Things are really good in Texas at the moment. Dr. Ehrlich also predicted a global ice age back in the 1970s.

That would be no. Global warming will not make every year a hotter year. The actual global warming is the overall trend. For example, out of the last 15 years or so I believe the ten hottest years on record have occurred. It is possible to have a cool year in amongst the hot years - it has happened before.

An example of this is the "Little Ice Age" that affected Medieval Europe from roughly 1350-1850. From it's name it sounds like it was always cold - not true. Overall it was colder but there were extremes of weather (hot and cold) throughout that time period.

Don't get me wrong, I think there is a natural cycle already warming the planet (without humanity's help) but I think humans have caused this mild natural cycle to spike much higher and more erratically than it would have otherwise.

Well, considering we just had the 52nd coldest march on record, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of warming going on. But, let's not let the facts get in Owl Gore's way. Just how much money has he made off of this whole sham anyway?

  • 1 decade ago

Al is in it for the money and the carbon credit money his company plans on milking from the American people. He is a joke and should never have been taken seriously on global climate change, talk about having no qualifications.

  • 1 decade ago

It's not that he is lying, he is just ignorant and uneducated.

He is just a mouthpiece for a movement.

What he doesn't know is that much of the ice has reformed this winter.

In order to lie he has to know the truth. I think he just doesn't know what the hell he's talking about at any given moment. I think he's never given a thought to anything that didn't have a price tag attached to it.

For the past ten yrs. the U.S. has set cold temperature records. Al Gore is an idiot, even though he did launch the internet.

Hey, you know the recession is actually dissolving because of the Fed money packages to the economy.
