Christians, if your child spit in your face and walked away from you forever, would you set them on fire?

I ask this because I do have a child who hates my guts.

Even though she curses me, I would never think of fueling an eternal fire to burn her forever....

And what is my love/charity compared to the Lords?

Jesus said to consider the love we have for our children, and it would not compare to the love God has for us...

Thoughts on an eternal "hell"?

Update:

dont judge the details of my relationship with my daughter because you dont have them, thank you.

No, and God would not either, all are not God's Children, you do not become a Child of God until you except Jesus as Lord and Saviour. And God DOES NOT send anyone to hell, if a person goes to hell they will have to go around the Cross of Jesus.

While that may appear to be a logical analogy the consequences of both are astonishingly different.

First of all you did not die to save your child from such an awful punishment like God did. Second life here on earth is temporary so you have time to heal those wounds prior to death. But once death happens then the consequences become eternal because you can never change them again.

Also Jesus said that hell was only meant for the devil and his angels in Matthew 25:41

If man can understand the concept of punishment for crimes committed by man against man. And we exact justice for the crimes. Then it should not be too much of a stretch to understand that God has the same kind of justice system. Most people are wise and do not want to break the laws of man so that we are not punished for it and spend our years in prison. How much more should we be wiser with God that we should find a way to remedy any wrongs we have done against God. That's just me. Later.

I would let my child walk away, yet i would make sure i knew of their every step, just in case they needed me. There has to be a root cause for your child's behavior, kids don't just turn on their parents without reason. when you figure that out, then you'll know why your child walked away.

Good luck and God bless. Oh, by the way. The Bible does not teach eternal Hell, sorry.

I seriously doubt you're telling us everything. I know very few ppl who will just "go off" for no reason. I have raised three daughters, all are adults and doing fine. What were you doing in "her house in the morning"? Have you no place of your own? Mom hates you b/c you got her daughter "pregnant or something"? Interesting. Spit in mom's face! For me, young man, (and I use the term MAN in it's broadest application) that would have been your undoing. She broke it off - SMART GIRL!! True, you don't need to be "with" her to see your daughter, but if a warrant is issued against you, you will only see your daughter under the eyes of a court deputy. Back to spitting on mom for just a sec. This next comment is NOT directed at you personally. If - and this word is important - IF - someone did that to my wife in front of my daughter, the only thing that would prevent me from putting a bullet, or two, in their head would be my wife and my daughter! Do yourself a favor. Do us all a favor. Leave this girl alone. And seek professional help for yourself! Life is ugly enough, I really do not wish to hear about you on some news program. My best advice as to "what do you do?"; Get help - and get it fast!

In the first place hell was never created for man. But when we choose to break our relationship with God we have to go some place he isn't.

The second place I don't think that this fire is literal but figurative describing a force that is working in that place. If you think about fire it either ultimately purifies or destroys the object that is in it.

So if we will not be purified by the fire of God's love then we will be destroyed by the fires of our own passion. Therefore hell is a place of continual ruin and failure

God loves us so much he went to hell for us but he also loves us enough that he will let us go there if we choose it.

I do not believe that Hell is an actual place where people burn forever, I think Hell is the absence of God. I once read a book where they "showed" someone in hell and they were all alone, no one there and I'll tell you that seemed even worse then the idea of burning with others.

I think the choice is between being in Heaven with God or being without Him (which for me sounds pretty hellish)

I would of course NEVER EVER even think of setting my son of fire no matter what he did.

We ourselves can't condemn someone to hell. That is beyond us. However, how we treat others can often steer them in a certain direction. Remember, many hated Jesus, but He even prayed for the ones who crucified Him, and spit upon Him, if He loved us after that than I think we can continue loving someone for hating us.

Hope this helps I'll remember you in my prayers.

    God Bless!

  • We are not children of God until we are born again.

There is sense in which mankind is believed to have been made in the image of God, but certainly according to the christian view that image is so marred naturally that we aren't naturally (before believing in Jesus and God thus being able to recreate out spirits) children of God at all, and some certainly more resemble Satan than God - e.g Mr Mugabe, Mr Bin Laden. Children are produced through sexual reproduction, not directly from God.

John 1:12 To all who received Him [Jesus], to those who believed in His name, He [God] gave the right to become children of God - children not born of natural descent, nor of a human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.

John 3:6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying 'You must be born again.'

  • No, I wouldn't, but I have no right to do so, as he does. You're also not born a child of God to begin with. You're a default Satanist, whether you consciously want to be so or not. He won't burn his children, but he's an adopted father. He adds you to his family and he loves you, if you turn away from him, you get taken out.

I think your view of hell and who God really is is distorted. Can you make your child quit cursing you? Even if you could would you? Or would you want them to choose to love you on their own? When we curse God i don't believe his character is to think "Oh good now I can throw them into a eternal fire". I believe he mourns and cries for us and his heart aches over our mistaken choice. He longs for us to choose to love him even when we hate him with intense passion. Our ways are not His ways and I wouldn't dare to try to compare them. My thoughts are not my Lords but I do know that Hell was not created for me or for you but it may be your choice to go there. It may be the consequence of your not dealing with your sin and choosing not be an heir. Just as your child may have consequences in life for being filled with anger towards you. They may not understand your intentions which is why they are so angry and filled with hate. Or they may choose to not forgive. Below is some info on Hell. Your question wasn't a direct question about Hell but since you

make the reference that God was vindicative I thought I would share some info. BTW read the story of the prodigul, do a google search and you will find out how God feels about kids that come back after spitting in his face. He opens his arms with Love.

God created Hell to destroy the rebellion of Satan and to put an end to sin. In the beginning, Hell was not created for man, but when man first sinned in the Garden of Eden, God had to accommodate man's fall. Hell was created to rid God's creation, (meaning God's heavens and the perfect earth,) of sin. God never wanted humans to go to hell. I suggest you check out this link:

1.) Hell will be a place of pain and sorrow for the lost, (Luke 16:19-31).

2.) Hell was created by God and not the devil, (Matthew 25:41).

3.) Flames of Hell are forever and will never burn out, (Mark 9:43-48; Isaiah 66:24; Matthew 12:8).

4.) Those who are candidates for this place, (Psalm 9:17; Proverbs 7:5-25; Revelation 21:8).

5.) Five compartments of Hell: (1) Tartarus (2) Abraham's Bosom (3) Hades or Sheol (4) The Abyss (5) The Lake of Fire.

6.) Sinners complete body will be in Hell's fire, never to die or to be physically destroyed, (after his resurrection and judgment at God's White Throne.) (Revelation 20:11-15; John 5:28, 29).
