How can someone who is confined to their home open a bank account?

If you are quadriplegic, or need to stay in bed, is there any way to open a bank account without going in person to the bank?

It may be difficult to open up an initial bank account on-line. If you were to call up a bank, they would very likely send a representative to your home to help you open up a new bank account.

In the situation that you describe, you would need someone to open an online bank account. These accounts are opened without making a visit to the bank.

I'm sure a bank account can be opened online but if the situation means that they can't even do anything on the computer, then usually a power of attorney is granted for a friend or relative that allows them to do that on the person's behalf.
