Atheists, if CP violation in the Big Bang created matter, why doesn't quantum chomodynamics break CP symmetry?
(Feel free to drink... I just asked how something could come from nothing using fancy physics terms.)

Actually, you did not ask how something could come from nothing. You asked why there is more matter than antimatter in the universe. This question has nothing to do with how the energy that led to matter/anti matter creation came into being at all. While the QCD Lagrangian does not break CP symmetry, the weak nucelar force does. However, the amount by which it does this is insufficient to account for all of the matter/anitmatter imbalance. The source of the rest of the imbalance is not yet known.

You're asking a lot of potentially invigorating science questions to a group of atheists in the religion and spirituality section. Why? To be honest, I'm just a layperson and my understanding of science is generic. I've read very simplified explanations of the universe from Brian Greene and Steven Hawking but I've never understood those finer nuances of Physics. What are you attempting to determine through your questions? Perhaps I could help you. Your questions are certainly novel. What are you trying to find out about us? If atheists are scientifically literate? Scientifically illiterate? Perhaps if there is any relationship between atheism and science at all? Perhaps just to see us mention the problem with the "god of the gaps" or the importance of the anthropic principle? To see if we can explain how a universe that appears "fine tuned" at first glance is not the product of an intelligence? To me, the universe simply "is." I don't think it is specifically "fine tuned" for anything, especially not life. Though to give you credit, it is notable that we even exist to ask the question. I've heard that the net energy of the universe is zero and other strange and remarkable things (such as your article on supersymmetry) that make me feel awe at science and existence. I doubt I could understand even a part of what modern Physicists are dealing with. But I cannot assume that what I don't understand must be the result of some kind of intelligence, at least not one that is on par with those short sighted deities introduced in religious books. I think humans tend to put their ego first and to give human qualities to inanimate objects. It's understandable but I don't want to make the same mistake when there is an absence of evidence to suggest that any intelligence played a role in "creating" the universe. I've heard some scientists suggest that there could be multiple universes with different properties and that our own just happens to be able to support life (anthropic principle). If you believe that the universe had a designer then how would you describe it? How would you explain how it came to exist in the first place? And if a designer always existed then why not go with the idea that the universe always existed? It is the simplest explanation (Occam's Razor).

First the fact we observe mass and energy at all is due to the rapid expansion which produces both normal energy and negative gravitational potential energy in equal and opposite amounts.
The reason we observe differing amounts of matter and anti-matter is possibly a CP violation. For instance we observe that neutral kaons can transform into their antiparticles (in which each quark is replaced with its antiquark) and vice versa, but such transformation does not occur with exactly the same probability in both directions. We have observed that CP violation occur in B-meson decays as well. What is not yet understood is how such an electroweak CP violation could result in the extreme matter/antimatter ratio we actually observe.
QCD does not apparently violate the CP-symmetry as in the electroweak theory; unlike the weak force in which gauge fields couple to chiral currents constructed from the fermionic fields, In QCD the gluons couple to vector currents. Experiments do not currently indicate any CP violation in the QCD.
Much of this is still under investigation and is certainly not yet fully understood. Not all of us atheists have yet studied these topics in depth however.
Another possible reason for the high matter/antimatter ratio might simply be an anthropic selection effect. Regions with matter/antimatter ratios near 1.0 may be far more numerous but may be unable to evolve beings such as ourselves.

You also assumed all atheists are as "well-versed" in quantum mechanics as the two of us.
Ah, screwdriver for breakfast.

Throw in some string theory maybe we will get to the root of the matter.

Obviously Jesus created the matter we observe. The Anti-matter was created by the anti-Christ who being much less powerful created less of it. Physics is simply lies created by Satan to confuse people and turn them away from following Jesus.

One of the laws of thermodynamics? It's either the second or third one. Trust me I'm a person.

I'm smart enough to tie my own shoes but I don't mind admitting that my first response was "huh?" Thanks for the translation! I dunno. (Answer to question)
You always make me smile. This time I ROFL. I'll have a tequila sunrise if you're buying! A little early in the day but when you're in good company.....

You're right! God did it!
Let's stop all scientific investigation right now, it's obviously a waste of time and money. Give up, and just say "God did it".

Thank you for the smile. :)
It seems like all the fanatics are on this morning and they were ruining my cup of Komodo Dragon.
Those bastards!
