    3x + 15 when x= 12

since x = 12, then saying x is the same thing is saying 12, so you can subsitute x, whenever and whereever it is, for 12

    so

    3(12) + 15

    now we have to multiply

    36 + 15

    now we have to add

    51

if ur having truble with the order of operations, remember this: PEMDAS

    its an acronym

    Parenthesis

    Exponent

    Multiplication

    Division

    Addition

    Subtraction

Here is an easy way to remember the order of operations:

    P - Parenthesis

    E - Exponent

    M - Multiplication

    D - Division

    A - Addition

    S - Subtraction

    Please

    Excuse

    My

    Dear

    Aunt

    Sally

First you would do multiplication as that is closer to the top.

3(12) = 36 And then do the addition

    36 + 15 = 51

yes, it would apply remember order of operations 1. do everything inside the parenthesis/brackets first. Take care of the exponents too. 2. multiply/divide from left to right 3. add/subtract from left to right (1 + 3 x 3) 2 + 8 parenthesis first 3 times 3 is 9, plus one is 10 now take care of the exponents 10 to the second power is 100 you have nothing to divide or multiply so we go to add/subtract add/subtract from left to right 100+8 and your answer is 108 hope this helps you out!

when two numbers are together like that you multiply them so 3 times 12 is 36.then you add 36 and 15.so the answer is 51.

    3x + 15, x = 12

    Substitute in the 12:

    3(12) + 15........multiplication first.

    = 36 + 15.........addition

    = 51

    So your answer is 51.

    3x + 15

    3(12) + 15 multiply first

    36 + 15 now add

    51

remember that we have the acronym PEMDAS

    P - Parenthesis

    E - Exponents

    M - multiplication

    D - Division

    A - addition

    S - Subtraction

in the example...you are deciding between multiplication and addition...

you should do the multiplication first

    therefore the answer is 3 x 12 = 36 + 15 = 51

    the answer is 51...

remember the PEMDAS...you will encounter this situation again in future...

    when x=12, multiply 3x12 then add 15.

    your answer will be 51.

  • 1 decade ago

You multiply them. and then add fifteen...

    sooo... 3(12)+15=51

and the order of opperation on

parenthesis, exponets, multiplication, division, addition and subtraction!!!

remember it likee... please excuse my dear aunt sally.

    hope this helps=] good luck!

    3(12) + 15
