Food help please?

I am trying to become healthier and develop a good diet...

So far I have become vegetarian, stopped drinking tea and coffee, cut out coke (diet and otherwise) i dont eat crisps or chocolate or sweets, i never eat fast food and i dont drink alcohol.

I want to cut out bread and eventually milk and cheese, has anyone got ideas on what i can do to push on my diet?

I want to lose a few stone ( i am actually over weight i am not attention seeking)

p.s. i want to be healthy and not go to below 1500kcals a day

and no nuts... allergies :(

Update:

I turned vegetarian because meat does not agree with me and i do not agree with it... I don't have meat eating teeth and no i wont look at your link i dont think

Add soy products like tofu and miso. Make sure you get plenty of fiber.

Eat breakfast everyday of healthy foods that include fruit juice and a fiber cereal or fiber/protein bar (I like Kashi brand items).

Vegetarians do eat milk and cheese - some even eat eggs - they are called ovo-lacto vegetarians. Vegans eschew all animal products and by-products. Becoming a strict vegan requires you read up and learn a lot about the vegan way to get healty and complete nutrition. I know several vegans who have become quite ill as a result of thinking they can live on fruits and vegetables alone.

More than anything all portions in moderation. Use smaller plates to make your servings look larger, Chew slowly. Never eat at the computer, your desk, or in front of the TV. Drink water all day.

Lastly, for good health, develop good mobility habits. When you can take the stairs instead of the elevator, do so. Walk or bike as much as you can instead of driving. When you have to drive look for a parking spot away from the door and walk across the parking lot.

It is amazing how these small changes routinely followed can make a big difference over time.

    Good luck to you!

    Hi there,

its great that you want to lose a few, but there are a few essentials that you need. i.e meat. you need that source of protein. In fact the best way to jump start your metabolism is to do three full days of protein ONLY. from there on continue with 1-2 servings a day of protein (chicken, fish etc..) along with 1 serving of carbs and the rest fruits and vegies. with this program I was able to drop 18lbs the first month. it keeps you healthy and losing. your body needs these food groups to lose.

    good luck!

Vegetarian? Why would you want to do that? I thought vegetarians could drink tea, eat bread, cheese etc. Why are you cutting all of those things out? I think you mean vegan. If you ever decide stop being vegetarian then you can read this article. We were born with canine teeth for a reason : )

The advice about eating more slowly is excellent. eating too fast causes you to eat too much before you realize you are full. It also increases indigestion causing many ills including having undisted food rotting away inside you.

Eat more often. Eat smaller meals. Eat more varied foods. Drink a lot more water. Don't overdose on the one food. Keep your blood sugar ballanced by avoiding overly sweet drinks or sweet foods. Exercise more. Sleep more. Laugh and cry each day.

    ____________________________________

My advice is to try as varied a diet as you can handle. You might find that you have an alergy to beef or beef fat. you might try eating small amounts of fish or chicken breast.

Smoked foods last well and I think they have less bad bugs.

I do not like eating too much beef since it gets stuck in my teeth.

You could also try soups especially those high in tomato.

Fruits tend to have acid soluable vitamins that help your body get rid of fat. fruit juices tend to unballance your blood sugar which can increase appetite and fat storage. Eating whole fruit is better than juice as the fruit bulk causes the sugars to absorb more slowly. I.e. a lower GI.

Vegetable juices are OK since veges have lower sugar and vege juice tends to have more bulk. Juicing methods that include bulk may be better but any vege juice is ok. High tomato levels such as V8 are ok.

Your body needs fat for fat soluable vitamins but some fats are better than others. Avocados are very high in fat but are extremely healthy, and high in vitamins. Use Avocado instead of butter. Colestorol lowering margerines or olive oil based margerines may be OK, but cottage cheese may be a better option. Cheeses and Yoguts are generally high in protein. Cottage or Philidelphia cheese are both good butter replacements. Real butter or more expensive margerines might ocassionally be used for variation.

As much as possible eat live foods with live cultures such as sour dough breads and yoguts.

Eat very small meals very often. Eat a quarter of your normal sized meals twice as often. No carbohydrates after 5PM or on your last two meals before bedtime.

Drinking more water and getting more sleep are the easiest ways of reducing weight. Five minutes of intense exercise twice a day or twenty minutes of continuous power walking or similar exercise that gets you continually sleightly puffed for 15 to 20 minuits will also help to switch you body into fat burning mode.

Every second day might also be enough but exercising every three days is leess likely to have much effect.

The problem with stimulents such as tea, coffee, Pepsi etc is that they prevent you from sleeping and drain your body of water. If you do have anything with caffeen drink three times the amount of water and make sure you get plenty of sleep.

One caffeen drink per day (such as coffee, tea or chocolate) may even help you loose weight and stay healthy. Likewise a single alcoholic drink per day may be good for you.

Ideally have you stimulents in the morning and sedatives at night. Chocolate is good for reducing combatting depression or heartbreak. Tea and Coffee and Chocolate have anti oxidants which fight disease and give a rejuvinating effect.

Don't eat the same thing every day. varying foods helps reduces strain on digestion, helps nutrient absorbstion, and reduces calorie storage.

Dont stop meat all together just have very small amounts and change the type of meats you eat each day or each meal.

Have as little fat as possible (baring exceptions like avocado) and do not have concentrated sugar foods. If you do need a quick sugar fix have simple sugars from bananas or highly diluted glucose drinks.

If you are exercising you might want a capful of gaterade or similar salt-glucose waterered down to the same concentration as your sweat. Generally this means taking a made up sports drink and adding ten parts water.

Hot foods like Chile are good for some people to raise metabolism, but some people have trouble digesting large amounts of spicy food.

If you are hungry all the time it is likely you are missing out on a food your body wants and what you are eating is not satisfactory or else you are overdosing on overly sweet or addictive foods.

By eating lots of different foods your body has a better chance of getting the nutrients you need and your body does not run out of digestive chemicals for specific foods. Eating the same food all the time is like RSI in the muscles. Eventually the body gets sick of the same thing all the time.

If you have trouble stomaching meat you likely overdosed on meat protein or meat fats. If you eat too much meat it can even get stuck in your system and start rotting inside you. generally this is a bad thing. E.g. the rotting food builds up poisons inside your system or bad bugs that feed on the undigested meat.

Detox diets can be helpful in setting this right. E.g. Senner tea will cause you to expunge toxins by acting as a laxitive or causeing you to sweat out the poisons.

Vary your diet as much as possible.

Drink more water. Sleep more. Exercise more.

    Eat less more often.

Exercise help fight most mental illness.

Crying and laughing expel toxins in tears and exercise the body. A good cry and a belly laugh each day will help keep you sane and physically fit.

If you exercise hard or often enough you will only get hungry when your body is desperate for food, because you body wants to be at rest to digest food.

Heavy exercising before (or light exercise after) last meals may reduce appetite and/or help burn off you meal. Ity may also tire you out so you are not up all night snacking out.

A hot malted milk and or some alcohol might also help some to sleep earlier.

Always check with a medical professional to see what suits your health situation.
