Hi,

I've got a 20gallon tank with a normal Goldfish and a Fantail. Goldfish is bigger than fantail, water was properly cycled and it is clean with a good filter. All levels of amonia, nitrite and nitrate are fine.

The fantail has stopped eating and just stays in one position. I noticed today that his fins are torn (new today) and that his face is getting black patches.. like he has been in a fist fight!

What could this be???? I'm worried that the Goldfish is attacking him when we're not in because he is fine. I've isolated the Fintail now to see if that helps.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I've decided to take my own lunch to work now, getting expensive going to Boots everyday!

Anyway, there is no microwave or toaster, and I work in the airport so I can't take ANYTHING liquid-like, no soup, pasta sauces or yoghurt or anything.

I grew up in a house that held no religion. No one in my family, none of my friends or colleagues call themselves religious. Where I live, religion is not a part of life, it's a topic of conversation, sometimes.

I studied philosophy at university and was basically taught (or interpreted the teachings) that belief in God was futile and illogical.

My problem is that I want to be spiritual, I want to be able to believe that there is something out there. I just can't believe the bible is real, I don't believe that there is a man in the clouds who can care for everyone in the planet and I don't believe anyone can come back from the dead.... I know I believe in science and accept it as fact, but I also think that there is something out there, call it mother nature or God.

This is so frustrating because I don't know what to believe.

I guess this isn't really a "solve my problem" question, more that I want to know if I'm alone in my confusion.

I just wanted to ask people about their personal experiences to do with finding God/Allah/Buddha or whichever god you believe in. I am in a bad place at the moment and would love to hear how, through the path of religion, you realized your beliefs. Please no nasty comments or bigotry, no criticism of other peoples beliefs this is personal not for people to be nasty.

I have just been reading closed q an a's about tipping waiters and bar staff... (in England we don't tend to tip bar staff, we tell them 'and your own' which means to keep 20p or so)

After reading lots of entertaining answers I learnt that in the States bar staff and waiters/waitrersses do not get paid minimum wage... WHY? surely minimum wage applies legally to all jobs?

Are you a waiter/bar tender...? if so what do you think?

I am trying to become healthier and develop a good diet...

So far I have become vegetarian, stopped drinking tea and coffee, cut out coke (diet and otherwise) i dont eat crisps or chocolate or sweets, i never eat fast food and i dont drink alcohol.

I want to cut out bread and eventually milk and cheese, has anyone got ideas on what i can do to push on my diet?

I want to lose a few stone ( i am actually over weight i am not attention seeking)

p.s. i want to be healthy and not go to below 1500kcals a day

and no nuts... allergies :(

i've got a really really stiff neck and it hurts a lot :( anyone got an suggestions on how to make it feel better i can bearly move my head

I am very interested to know what people can offer by means of a definition of God.

For example Saint Mary Anselm defined God as

"that than which nothing greater can be conceived"

If God/Jesus passes judgement at the pearly gates of everyone who dies (which is neigh on 15000 a day) how is there time for it to do anything else? i.e. answer prayers etc..

I am genuinely interested in where your logic comes from
