It depends entirely how bad it is. There's a lot of ligaments in the knee. Some of them you can even take out and lead a normal life (though I'm not sure about soldiering).

He'll prob. be fine. Tell him to do his Physical Therapy. That's where the washouts always flub it. You gotta do that PT.

He will either have do be in basic longer because of having to recoup or get a medical discharge if he is unable. Best wishes.

J D is also right. Tell your guy to hang in there and be strong. He obviously wants to be in the military and have a career. He doesn't sound like the wimps that try to get out with a injury.

If you get hurt while in basic they will more than likely send you home. in less he can pull himself back up fairly quickly although he will have to do it all again if they let him. I knew someone who had a shin splint and he got sent home because one day he couldn't run with his devision

After he heals up he can go back to basic training.

That is if he can still run and perform in the PT test. If not he will get discharged.

The Air Force might still take him :)

To bad to hear that, first the whole time table need's to be reset, so the decision will be up to

the recruit to continue,2.the recovery will be long so a restart will be in order, but all in all they should

be able to remain in the service. tell them good luck

and thank you ( U.S. army Retired.)
