moving from erie, pa to pittsburgh, pa?

I'm originally from state college (central PA) and I went to college for 4 years in Erie, PA. Now I am thinking about moving to Pittsburgh, PA to get my masters.

I am scared to move. I am afraid I won't like Pittsburgh because it is so big!

Update:

I have to go I got a scholarship so it will be free

You are going to get your masters...this is the important thing. you jay not care for a big city on a permanent basis...but this is not permanent. Paople who live in large cities usually just actually live in their own little part of the city...work, shopping, doctor, etc...are all done in the part of town close to their homes...so you will be centered around your university. This is a great opportunity to broaden your experience and learn more than just the academic things. If you are ready to go study for your masters, you are ready to have new experiences. Go, enjoy the adventure

I live in Pittsburgh and am from Warren County so I went to Erie a lot as a kid.

Pittsburgh is not much different from Erie - it is bigger, but it is one of the safest cities of its size.

When you look for an apartment, I'd recommend looking in Squirrel Hill. A lot of grad students live there, and in addition to having nice, affordable apartments, it also has a business district with a grocery store, shops, restaurants, etc. So you really don't need a car if you don't have one.

    Good luck!

I'd suggest Lake or Geauga county so that you're east of Cleveland and already headed back to PA after leaving work or school at Case. Use Google Maps or MapQuest or Yahoo Maps or AAA to get town names. Then use Google Earth to get aerial views of the countryside.

Pittsburgh is really not that big, and it is split into tons of unique neighboorhoods. I've heard it called the biggest small town in America.

I'll bet you will like it, or at least will have some wonderfull experiences!
