Of course pirates still exist. You're talking about international waters with no police and no claim.

Although I do need to warn ya' pirates are ruthless cutthroats, from the beginnings of sailing times that will extend into the 25th century of our future. They are not romantic myths of gentlemen who just attack the bad guys in the carribbean.

They murder, they steal, they represent anarchy to the civil world and freedom to those with gang mentality. Believe it or not there are still countries in this world that have not condoned slavery (not just black humans, but people in general) Anything of value to a pirate will be taken and if you attempt to fight them, they will kill to protect themselves.

The guy that gave you the advice is not a jokster, it is a viable concern.

Real Pirates Today

No there are really Pirates, and they are quite a bit more dangerous than people think... a friend of mines father was an officer in the US Merchant Marine and had several stories of encounters with pirates in the Persian Gulf and Indian Ocean, the pirates carried .50 caliber machine guns, small arms, and rocket launchers, the USCG also from time to time deals with pirates off the Atlantic and pacific seaboards... pirates are now mostly commandeering oil ships and sailing them to countries like china where they can sell the precious cargo to the government for enormous sums of money without being reported to international authorities. They don't really bother people as much anymore, but large expensive yachts could be seen as very promising targets.

I maybe stupid and or dumb in not knowing how this Yahoo answer page system work and because of that no buddy probably would want to answer me back mean I might not be doing this right but are you or you guy s serious, their are pirates or are you just kidding around & playing a player as they say and if you are serious then what are they like and is that how Disney got the permission to use pirates of the Carrabin or some like that if so or did I miss understand you?

Of course pirates exist they are like us humans but dangerous they kill and steal but some of them are nice and if you want to become a pirate you must go and see the captain but the captain will trick you so why ask today if they are real or not anyone can become a pirate a women or men they could still be in England sailing the seven seas how amazing would it be to sail the seven seas if you acted like a pirate the captain and the crew will accept you and if people believe in curses they are real especially for pirates you can become an immortal pirate that never dies so if you still believe in pirates you might actually see one and sail on one but you must be careful if your a women they can take advantage of you but if you are men and if you are worthy of joining the crew they will accept you. but if you something that belongs to the pirates they will come after you

I heard Disney had to get special permission from the Coast Guard to use black, red & white colours on their ships and flags, because those are still pirate "colours".

Yes there are pirates still they mostly in somalia reagion because security there is very low so easy to work out off, my cousin use to be there but the last we heard of him is that he joined a group of fishers a few years back, I have a my suspicions "wink" "wink"
