Headaches during pregnancy?

I asked this an hour ago, but only got one answer, wanted to try again.

I went to the doctor on Friday-14 weeks along tomorrow-she said everything was great.

She asked if I had any headaches, I said once in a while and last week I had one that lasted over a day, so I broke down and took some Tylenol. I was trying to not take any. She said any time I have a headache I should call her or talk to someone else in the doctor's office. She said there's "Bad Headaches" and "Normal Headaches"?? I told her I had a little one at the appointment, but she didn't do anything or check anything, why should I call them when I don't have an appointment then and tell them I have a headache?

Has anyone ever heard of this??

Thanks in advance, I'm confused on this one.

I am 8 weeks pregnant and when I got my first headache it was magnified, probably b/c of the hormones. The nurse I told about this said that a could idea is to go stand in a shower, I think warm would be better. It's harmless to you, it's just water?

I am also afraid to take tylenol, I don't want to hurt my baby. The head nurse in the office told me that it was okay to take Tylenlol (can't remember the dosage off the top of my head).

They told me that if you get a headache that can't be treated by tylenol, then it is something else. Or if you throwup and can't keep anything down and have a headache, that is a sign of dehydration.

Sounds like they are being overly cautious.

I just had a baby 3 weeks ago and I truly understand how the issues with the headaches are I am sure that you received a book about the expecting mother that your doctor should of gave you at the very first appointment in there is a topic about headaches. Tylenol is safe to take while pregnant unless you got some other things going on. I had them really bad when I was pregnant. I took Tylenol to relieve the pain. It did the job for me but yes you should report them to your doctor if your headaches are getting worse and if it followed by blurred vision and also lasting more than a day. You should also try eating something well more small meals and resting more often.Relax this is the time to really enjoy yourself. Pregnancy will have it's ups and downs. After the first trimester they should ease up mines did.

Do what she says. If you have a headache, call her. Even if it is a little one. If she's acting like you are bugging her with such trivial matters, find another doc. And, any health professional will tell you, Tylenol is perfectly OK to take during pregnancy. The maximum dosage on Tylenol is 4,000 milligrams a day. In fact, get the adult liquid or the rapid release gels. Those rock! Don't suffer needlessly. If you have any questions that you want to check out online, one of my favorite sites is safefetus.com. Headaches are pretty common in pregnancy, btw.

Source(s): Chronic pain patient and preggo who is seeing a whole team of doctors and who takes stuff much stronger than Tylenol w/her doctors' approval. (My list includes my OB/GYN, my primary health care physician, a fetal medicine specialist and my pain management doctor.

If the headaches are bad - really bad, it can signal a problem called Preeclampsia. It's not very common, but it is a cause of serious headaches and serious problems in pregnancy.

If the headaches are minor, I am not really sure.
