Not necessarily. I have found the best way to stay regular is to eat Colon Blow. It looks and taste just like an Oak log.

Not necessarily. You can take it occasionally, as needed, for relief, though it's not immediate. Be sure you drink LOTS of water if you are taking Metamucil (or other fiber supplements). The fiber has to have something to absorb in order to bulk up and get things moving, so to speak. Fiber by itself won't do much good. I don't mean drinking alot of water WITH the fiber, but throughout the day, every day. Some other good options, avoid dairy, especially cheese, and eat dried fruits, fresh fruits, whole grain hot cereal every day, blackstrap molasses (has a laxative effect and is high in iron and potassium to boot), and all kinds of cooked greens (turnip, collards, kale, spinach, etc.). My special recipe for breakfast: Bob's Red Mill 10-grain hot cereal, but I add some extra water and either dried fruit or chopped fresh apple. Use 1/3 cup extra water or so for every 1/4 cup dried fruit per serving. I don't usually add extra water if I'm putting in fresh fruit. You can also add wheat bran to regular oatmeal (add extra water if you do this as well).

Well you certainly can't be lax about it. Actually there's a new study on this topic - well not so much a study - more like a movement...a movement to promote regular regularity. So far it's been flush with success.

No. You can just make sure you get enough fiber in your diet and you should be fine. I just eat a handful or dried apricots about every other day or so and that works so fine for me. Good luck .

Nope.
You can just eat fruits, veggies and eat foods full of fiber.
Cranberry juice, prunes, broccoli, and whole grains will help.
