I need a nickname for my 15 month old son to call his uncle.?

Long story short, I left a really bad relationship when I was pregnant, and moved across country to live with my sister and brother-in-law. My son is now 15 months, and I would like to have a name for him to call his uncle. His "father/donor" has absolute no contact with my little guy, nor will he ever. My bro-in-law has been that "father figure" to my little guy, and I would love to have my son call his uncle a special name. They are very close, but we can't think of a special name!!! I was thinking Dado...but I don't know!!!! Any suggestions would be helpful!! Thanks

Update:

My sister is the one that actually suggested the idea. Thanks!

Update 2:

His name is matthew, but he also goes by matt.

It really depends on what the guys name is. Something that means "father" in another language might be cool. I am the big sister in the family and have the mother role and am called Nana so a traditional grandparent name might also be cool. "Opa" pronounced "oh - pa" means grandfather in German. Good luck!

Maybe it’s only me but I get a big smile on my face every time I hear one of my nephews call me uncle Jon, and they make up their on nickname’s as they get older that’s the cool part. I also go by the name uncle dude, uncle slick, (I call all of them slick so they started calling me uncle slick) So I guess what I trying to say is in time let your son come up with his on nicknames. But to me there’s nothing no other name better then Uncle Matthew, wait until you brother in-law here’s it for the first time, then he’ll know how I feel.

Sorry I couldn’t help you with a cool name. But good luck and keep on smiling

I have to agree with not giving him a name that has something to do with fatherhood. One day you may have a man in your life that you want your son to call Dad, or your son may want to call Dad. The best thing for his uncle is Uncle Matt. Don't confuse the little guy; life is hard enough without his mother adding to the confusion.

Lets not get it confused although your brother in law is a father figure - you don't want to confuse your child by giving his uncle a dad type nickname. Unk - Uncle should be alright. Your sister may be offended by any thing more. I know I would be.

Have him call him Ompy. Sounds stupid I know. But my brother-n-law is called Ompy (real name is Josh) and my sister is called Toby (real name Jessie) I tried to get her to call them other names but that's what she picked he'll pick something of his own when he's older don't worry. Plus its really not the name that makes there relationship its how he thinks of him in the long run

Can I ask what your brother in laws first name is. Sometimes a nickname made up of his own name sounds cool. My sister is Isabelle and my grandaughter calls her Bibelle and she loves that.

My daughter calls my brother (my only brother) "gogo" Its how she knows the difference between her daddys guy friends. you pronounce it like you are saying uncle without the "un"..kinda like co-co.
