Looking for a new car in the UK?

I want something cheap to run but also with a good safety rating! not too big as i only really use my car to get to work and back which isn't that far away - any ideas?

    Small, cheap to run and with good safety rating. Rarely ever see those words in the same sentence.

    Best thing I can think of is the BMW Mini 2007 (5 star Euro NCAP rating), but they are expensive to buy - £15k otr.

    Best bets for you - Toyota Yaris (2005 onwards) or the Peugeot 207 (2007). Best value cars, both of them have 5 star ratings, and they are reasonably reliable.

    Whatever you do, stay away from the Vauxhaul Corsa (any year) and the Renault Clio (2005 onwards), which have 5 star ratings but are nightmares to own.

    Good luck in your car search.

    PS - you really should consider buying used maybe 1 or 2 years old - same value, but 30 - 40% cheaper to buy.
