Use Iron Out. Instruction on the container for cleaning dishwashers, toilet bowls, washing machines etc.

Also, Lime Away and CLR work as well.

For Dishwasher Rust: To remove rust from the inside of the dishwasher, fill both dishwasher cups with Tang Breakfast Drink and run through the normal cycle. If rust is bad, several treatments may be required.

Dear Sir, I can appreciate trying to preserve such expensive items, however, problems that would have been caused by doing what your wife has been doing were engineered out years ago. Now everything has clutches and brakes and limited slip transmissions. No problems any more.

A liter of Coca Cola works too - pour it in - let it sit an hour or two (I tend to put it in and then forget it) then run like normal.

Coke also eats lime.....
