I stripped 8 rooms in my house - including ceilings. DIF does not work well at all. I tried all the usual ways, but the best way is to use a tool called a tiger. You rub it in a circular motion all over the area to be stripped. This will allow water penetration down into the layers.

Next get yourself a bucket of warm water and a large sponge. Sponge over the area to be stripped. Wait a minute or so. Tiger and sponge the next area while you wait.

Next use a large scrapper and start scraping at the area that you soaked. Keep doing this over and over until you're done.

It's not easy and the going is slow, but this worked better than using DIF, better than using a steamer, and better than just cold water.

If you have a lot to do, you may want to consider hiring someone to do it for you before you go insane and shoot yourself.

Get a Paper Tiger (hand held scoring tool) and some Diff and a scrapping tool. Score the wall really well with the Paper Tiger and the saturate with the Diff. Let sit awhile and then start removing. All the items can be purchased at Lowe's or Home Depot.

    Good luck!

Score the wallpaper with a tool that has little blades up inside it - you run it in a circular motion over the paper.

    Steam the paper.

    Peel back the paper.

Score the backing/glue that will remain.

    Steam the backing/glue.

Use a scraper with a sharp blade to remove the backing/glue.

Wipe down with vinegar to remove any remaining glue residue.

    Good luck.

there is no easy way- its a very time consuming job- but i was in the same spot as you a few years ago- the best thing that worked for me was to rent a steamer. check local hardware stores or rental stores. good luck

Buy a product called Diff at the hardware store. Vinegar works, too.
