Crochet Pattern help!?!?

ok I love knitting, and the knit patterns all make since to me...I have recently began crochet and I have learned all the basic stitches........ but the patterns confuse me..... like:

Coaster pattern

Rnd 1 (right side) : Ch2, 6sc in second ch from hook......... so I have chained 2, now how do i do 6 sc in one lil loop? I am confused!?!?!? b/c its like in the sc in the end you pull both loops through, leaving one, so how do i do the next sc????

Answers are greatly appreciated :D

Update:

but when you do the first sc dont I pull all the loops through leaving one? then where do i go? :P ughhh I am so confused and aggravated...

Yes! It can be confusing! If you go to www.LIONBRAND.com you'll open the home page to a very helpful site sponsored by Lion Brand Yarns. On the left you'll see choices, click on Learn To Crochet and in there you'll find more options, with great pictures to help with any basic questions.

You have 1 loop on the hook, you're going to go BACK into that same 2nd ch and repeat the process, to put the hook in the ch, yarn over, pull the yarn over back thru the ch, now you have 2 loops on the hook, yarn over and pull thru the 2 loops leaving 1 loop on your hook. What's going to happen is that as you add more sc in that 2nd ch, you will literally be working around in a circular shape until you come again to the first sc you mnade in that 2nd ch.

And I agree with the first response, it helps to make that first ch (which becomes the 2nd ch from the hook, the one you will put those 6 sc in) a generous one so you'll have room to make 6 sc in it but once you get the hang of it, it's not as frustrating as it seems. If you're still having difficutly, e-mail me and I'll be happy to walk you through it! good Luck NanaDianna

It'll be tight, so I'd make your starting chain stitch plenty loose - you can always pull it tighter when you get a few rounds out.

But yes, all six will go in that one stitch. You're just making a circle.
