  • Confusing crochet directions?

1st round (row): Chain 3, then skip the next 2 spaces and shell (5dc's) in the next ch space. Continue shell stitching until you reach the last 3 chains. Then finish your last shell and slip stitch into the 3rd chain of beginning chain 3.

This will complete the first row in the round.

2nd round (row): Now ch 3, then work 1 dc in same chain space (counts as first HALF shell) then *sc into THIRD (3rd) chain of previous rows ch 5 shell. Work shell (5 dc's) into next sc of previous row* Continue around until you reach the last sc into previous rows shell, then work 2 dc's into last chain space.

In Row 2, when it says to work the shell into the next sc of previous row....?

  • Crochet Pattern Help Please?

Hey, I am having a problem joining motifs ( the place where i am joining them at looks puffy and weird) can someone please explain :

Round 4 (joining round): Work as for Round 4 of first motif, except, to join sides of neighboring motifs, work ch-3-join or ch-5-join instead of corner ch-3 or side ch-5, respectively, as follows:

ch-3-join: Ch 1, slip st in corresponding ch-3 corner sp of neighboring motif, ch 1.

ch-5-join: Ch 2, slip st in corresponding ch-5 side sp of neighboring motif, ch 2.

and how do I continue / work that in to the first motif's round 4!??!?!?!

    Thanks ;)

I have pasted the whole pattern below......

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    FIRST MOTIF

Chain 4; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, [sc in ring, ch 2] 8 times; join with slip st in first sc—8 sc and 8 ch-2 sps.

Round 2: Slip st in first ch-2 sp, ch 2, Beg-Cl in same ch-2 sp, [ch 5, Cl in next ch-2 sp] 7 times, ch 5; join with slip st in top of beginning ch—8 clusters and 8 ch-5 sps.

Round 3: Slip in first ch-5 sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 5, sc) in same ch-5 sp, (sc, ch 5, sc) in remaining 7 ch-5 sps; join with slip st in first sc—16 sc and 8 ch-5 sps.

Round 4: Slip st in first ch-5 sp, ch 6 (counts as first dc, ch 3 here and throughout), dc in same ch-5 sp (corner made), [ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp, ch 5, (dc, ch 3, dc) in next ch-5 sp (corner made)] 3 times, ch 5, sc in next ch-5 sp, ch 5; join with slip st in 3rd ch of beginning ch—8 dc, 4 sc, 4 ch-5 sps, and 4 corner ch-3 sps. Fasten off.

NEXT MOTIF (make and join 28)

Chain 4; join with slip st in first ch to form a ring.

Rounds 1–3:Work Rounds 1–3 of first motif.

Determine placement of motif. The motifs should be worked and joined into a rectangle, 2 motifs wide and 14 motifs long.

Continue making and joining motifs, as established, into a strip 2 motifs across and 14 motifs long.

  • Adding sleeves to Crochet Shrug... Pattern Help plz?

ugh here we go again..... man this pattern is the most confusing ever....

ok so I crocheted the body part of the shrug ( its like a square), and fastened off........

    now for the sleeves

it says, fold piece in half. Sleeves will be worked in ends of rows ( easy enough)

Rnd 1: Working in ends of rows, with RS facing, join with sc in end of first row, evenly sp 39 sc around, join with sl st in beginning sc ( 40 sc)

OK so I fold the piece in half w/ the right side facing....

so is the first row the last one i did? and also how can i make my sc's go around on the side of a square!?!?!??!?

    thanks =D

does the 5 rows = 3 inches mean 5 rows of just the shell rows or all the rows, b/c Rows 1 and 2 are sc and row 3 is beg shell and shell, and rows 4-20 are shell.

ugh I love crochet but the gauges are annoying......... I cant seem to get it!!! and I want these items to fit right....

  • Crochet Pattern Help Please......?

Ok this is a pattern for a shrug, the gauge is written like this:

    Gauge

    1 shell= 1 1/2 inches; 5 rows= 3 inches

I interpreted the gauge as 1 shell = 1 1/2 inches ... but do they mean 5 rows ( of just shells ? or 5 rows beginning from row 1 to row 4?)

    * the first 2 rows are sc rows...

ok so under materials they used size G crochet hook.....

( I have used g -k hook and havent been able to meet the gauge......)
