Am I doing Hairpin Lace crochet correctly?

I have watched quite a few videos on how to do it, and it makes sense to me but.... when I try I think mine looks different....like, the pics i have seen, the ridge of sc in the middle seems to be straight-like, and mine looks like v's??? am I doing something wrong?!?

    You are doing the stitch correctly, but using a very difficult yarn to begin with. The stitches should end up looking like v's, and with practice will become more evenly spaced and closer together. Try practicing with sport yarn first to compare the stitches that you have done with the mohair and you will have a clearer vision of what you are doing.
