how long after putting crabgrass killer on my lawn and how to kill.....?

I put crabgrass killer on my lawn and would like to know when I can put grass seed down to start to have a lawn again. I also have this bamboo type weed that is taking over everything. Someone said its japanesse bamboo. I cant kill this stuff to save my life. I came from the other side of my neighbors lawn and has grown all the way over about 100' or more. It has pretty much taken over her lawn and I dont want to happen to mine. What can I do to get rid of this stuff. I have tried cutting it down and pain stakingly putting brush killer down every tube and still it grows.

Update:

i used different stuff on the bamboo stuff than the crab grass. It has roots like 100' long and they just go on and on. Guess I will just want til next spring then to worry about grass as it was something like what you said. Oh well hopefully it killed that crabgrass.

If it's something like Scot's turfbuilder with Halts crabgrass control... it will take a few months. I used that last season and I couldn't get grass to grow at all last summer. That stuff only works on seeds though, it prevents germination. IF that bamboo grass stuff is spreading with shoots under the ground, the stuff you are using will not work.

I don't know what you mean by crab grass killer. Was it like a type of round up product or a pre or post emmergence type product. Read the label on the product you used and it should tell you when you can lay seed down. On the bamboo. You will always fight this stuff if it is bamboo. What you need to do on your property line is to dig down a couple of feet and put down a barrier. The barrier needs to be straight up and down or vertical to the ground. This barrier will most likely need to be sheet metal ( like roofing galvanized steel). The metal needs to stick up out of the ground for approx 4" to 6" inches also. The rest of the bamboo in your yard needs to be dug up when you start seeing shoots. Don't wait for the shoots to grow too big, other wise you will have more pop up. Just keep digging them up until you don't see them any more. Sorry, but bamboo is a buggaboo to get rid of, the roots will travel under and over most things and keep on going. They make great fishing poles though.
