kinda a gross question??
I am sorry if this grosses any one out.
I am 38 weeks pregnant. I have been 2 cm dialated for 3 weeks and have been having some contractions but there not regular. My major problem is for the last 2 days I have had diarreah. My diet hasn't changed or anything. I cant figure out why I am doing this. Has this happened this late in pregnancy?
I don't have a virus( i feel fine)
I have been drinking water
And the man that answered you shouldn;t be dialted for more than a few days is crazy. I go to the dr once a week and I am fine. Thats why men should stay out of the pregnancy section.
I sure do hope this means labor. I had my daughter at 38 weeks and 4 days, so im crossing my fingers.

This is common before labor begins.
Your uterus may already be contracting and you don't realize it. It is similar to when you are on your menstrual cycle and have loose stool- the contractions of your uterus are moving around on your bowels causing you to have looser more frequent bowel movements.
So to answer your question- yes it it common. The explaination is that labor is approaching.
Make sure your bag is packed, mommy! Don't forget the car seat!

It can, check with your midwife though, because you shouldn't stay dilated for more than a few days before things kick off (So to speak)
Speak to your midwife/Doctor/Health care professional.
EDIT: Why the thumbs down? And men should stay out of the Pregnancy section? This petty mindedness causes men to run a mile, I know my answer to be CORRECT because our midwife said so when my wife was pregnant oh let me see.. 3 times!
Respect people with more experience than you or don't ask the question.
You are sexist saying a Man shouldn't answer these type of questions, any your the type of woman who make's the stereotype's that most men think is correct an actuality.
Also if you go to your doctor once a week, then WHY ASK ON YAHOO ANSWERS. Why not ask your doctor?
I answered Honestly, and trying only to help.

I don't know for sure, but I would think it would have to do with the pressure caused by the baby and contractions. Also, are you taking anything to help with the contractions? If your taking something like a midol or something that relieves cramping, a lot of those contain diuretics which would definitely be the cause of your diarrhea. Hope this helps!

I never dilated pas 3 cm I had an emergancie c section .. Almost lost my baby I was 31 when I had mine and yes that will happen in the last few weeks...

I had diarreah late in my pregnancy. It's no big deal just make sure you drink lots of water so it doesn't dehydrate you.

Hey - its coming soon! Diareah is your body's way of "cleaning out the pipes" before labor! I bet you go into labor this week! CONGRATS !!!

Generally you get diarreah right before you go into labor. Don't worry, you're just getting that much closer! :)
