Static Electricity?

The problem is running me CRAZY! My family (2) do not have the same reaction to our new house. Everything I touch shocks me. You can hear the sound all over when I touch any metal object. You can see the spark even during the day. My husband says that I may ruin all our electronic kitchen equipment. I worry about my computer! HELP please.

Was told one idea... Magnetic braclet?? I'm getting desperate.

Update:

Thanks guys... all good ideas. Humidity is part of the problem and that's what I thought. We live in New Mexico and it rained the other day..... high humidity.... still got shocked! Now what?

Update 2:

PS: Don't wear socks. Hubby does and still doesn't get shocked. Figured that one out.... PLZ

Update 3:

John K... contact me plz. If your idea is right, wouldn't it mean that everyone would be effected?

If John K was correct, yes it would affect everybody in the house and it wouldn't just be a spark. Yes it is just a static discharge and most of the time it will not harm kitchen appliances as you are discharging to the casing of the appliance. Yes this can be annoying and the best fix is to get a whole house humidifier for the winter. You are about to turn your evaporative cooler on and that will take care of the problem for the summer (it is also dry in NM in the summer) but you might consider a whole house humidifier for next winter. By the way, I am also from NM and haven't noticed much of a problem since I replaced most of our carpet with wood laminate flooring.

Its impossible to add humidity to a room using wet clothing hanging around since to increase the humidity in such a large volume of air as in a house requires a whole house humidifier which can produce about 10 GALLONS of water moisture a day into the house air.

A single room humidifier is also a piece of equipment not worthy of purchase as it is way too small an amount of moisture put into such a large volume of air as a house.

Neither will bracelets or wet socks or clothing change help.

Go to the Carrier website and see what a whole house humidifier looks like. There are two basic types, on is a flow across medium type, the second is a rotating cylinder in water. Both require the usage of a whole house air handler system such as what is used in furnaces or air conditioning systems.

These units can be purchased at Lowes or Home Depot and cost around $500 installed price and are well worth it from the standpoint of not only static electricity elimination, but also from the health standpoint. Moist air means less dry throats and nostrils and a better breathing atmosphere.

Try this for a quick and easy fix. Change your clothing to a cotton based material instead of synthetics. You are getting a large static build up in your clothing because of the synthetics. Tell your husband that you need a new wardrobe, including under garments, then get him to help you pick some of them.

Try a humidifier. Dry air makes static electricity worse. Also, if the problem just seems to follow YOU around, try a daily moisturizer/lotion and a conditioner on your hair.

You need to increase the humidity content of your air. I would also suggest getting rid or polyester socks, rugs, and other static generators.

There's a naked hot wire contact in one of the features .The only reason of getting electrical shuck is contact of hot wire to metal and if you touch two metal object (for example : fridge and oven at the same time ) shuck will be more stronger than it was before .

1- Find out where this wire is contact the feature

2- All electrical feature must be attach by ground wire(green wire)

3- From Main power box take a ground wire (gage # 6) and connected to the water pipe close to the box.
