What are your opinions about Junior opening up a bar?
He had his grand opening the other night, he looks pretty excited, do you think this is going to distract him.

NASCAR.com had an article on Whiskey River. Jr. was very clear about how he is delegating just about all the duties related to running his bar to others. I think the most he did was give some input about the look and feel of the place, and that part is done (and seeing as how we've barely just made a dent in the '08 season, most of it was probably done in the off-season). I don't think it took up a chunk of his time. He's put someone he trusts in charge of it, and he said his primary focus in his life right now is driving the 88 car. And like everyone else has said, most Cup drivers have side businesses. Tony Stewart runs his own speedway and no one makes a big deal out of that. I don't see the big deal in this aside from giving Jr. bashers another excuse to talk crap.

This could be a distraction if he does not have a good manager.
The club/bar is not a Hard Rock Cafe but it will be a place to go and down a few with interesting friends. The picture in the paper today seem to have a good crowd.

No distraction at all, these drivers are involed in all sorts of business ventures. We do not usually here about what other drivers are doing because there name is not Dale Jr. It is not like is going to be running the joint but I would not be suprised if you don't see there a lot! If I lived in that area I would be a regular.... just like Norm at Cheers!!

It will be a hit amongst his fans and non fans. It sounds like a very good business venture. His main focus in his life is driving and trying to win a championship. He will have someone running it for him. So i really dont see it being a distraction at all. Good for him!

Teresa was right. Does he want to do that kind of stuff or focus on racing? Seems to me if he would focus on racing and not partying, he would be better than what he is - an overrated Cup Series driver who is getting all of this attention because of his name and not accomplishments on the Cup level.

Nah, did Chase Authentics distract his father and Jeff Gordon? It's a business venture that's it. Hmm wonder if they have any drinks made with Amp and Mountain Dew.

It will not distract him at all. He already has a real estate business, automobile dealerships and many other business ventures. He has people in place to manage them so he doesn't have to worry about the details.

This is very typical for sports figures to branch out into other businesses. Very often it is in the restaraunt/bar biz, to take advantage of their name recognition.
The only question I have is will his bar serve Budweiser?!?!

No I don't think his new bar Whiskey River will distract him. He has people to run it, just like all his other business. he just checks in now and again. I know I want to get down to NC and check it out myself.

Why would it distract him? I could see if he was winning races & championships but he has done neither so there should be no distraction
