    subtract 2n from both sides giving you

    12=3n

    divide by three on both sides and you have

    n=4

    Subtract 2n from both sides (12=3n). Divide both sides by 3 to get just n (n=4). So the answer is n=4.

    2n + 12 = 5n

    (you move the like terms to one side)

    12 = 5n- 2n

    12= 3n

    (divide both answers by 3, so you can be left with a letter)

    4= n

    DONE! :)

    transposing 2n to the rhs

    12=3n

    or n=4
