Will someone please offer me words of encouragement?

I am depressed. I lost my job and can't seem to find another one. I was a store manager and was retaliated on by my district manager for speaking up against discrimination. The EEOC is taking forever with its investigation. What am I to do?

here are my words of encouragement:

WHOOOT! YOU ROCK! YEAHHH!!!! I HAVE FAITH IN YOU!!!!

    ok, but seriously.

that's awful i feel really bad for you.

but look on the bright side: you stood up for what's right and at least theres an investigation going on.

and really, if there was an issue involving discrimination, would you really want to continue working there? think about it. if it happens once, it'll most likely happen again. i wouldn't want to be a part of that.

i wish there was something i could do for you, but unfortunately those are the negatives of the internet.

don't give up, im sure that there are lots great companies hiring that are looking for someone just like you.

and keep this thought in your mind...

that douche bag of a district manager is gonna get kicked to the curb once they find out what went on. and if you're lucky.... do i hear lawsuit? oh yes, i think i do... =]

anyways, i hope that helps you out a bit...

Stay on top of the EEOC, were you involved in any type of union of sorts via the store ? If so get with them immediately if not get out there asap and get your resume out, the job market is about to take an even bigger turn for the worse. Sounds like you had a drive for a little success either way, I'm sure you will turn out just fine.

I gotta level with ya. Years ago I was fired (railroaded) from my job. The allegations against me made no sense, yet they held up. Everyone I spoke with, including private lawyers, governent lawyers, human rights people, college professors, union bigshots and government agency managers all told me I'd lose the case no matter how good it was. That is just the dirty little secret about how it all works. Believe me it pissed the hell out of me, and yes I got depressed knowing how easily others could engage in dishonest behavior. It was no fun seeing what a sham the system really is either. But in the end I just moved on and got over it. I will say that staying active is the best medicine. When you wake up you've got to get out of bed and when you get out of bed you've got to do something. And you've got to do something even if it doesn't pay what you've been used to getting. When I started concentrating on solving real problems rather than dwelling on the past the healing began. Nightmares? Yeah. Ten years of 'em. But in the end I think I came out stronger than before. Humor is great medicine as well as well as meeting new people. I was also told once if you are eligible of unemployment benefits then you can honestly claim on job applications that you were laid-off rather than fired. Best of luck.

I'll pray for you. Prayer will help, honestly. I know what your goin through, i lost my job and it is so hard for me to find another one at the moment. Just keep your faith and you will be ok. Trust in the lord and he will walk beside you. Take these words of encouragment and you wil find what you are looking for but you honestly need to rely on god, he will be there for you.

you did the right thing. you should be proud of yourself. can you imagine how many of us finding ourselves in your situation and not doing anything. hold your head up high you did a good thing. i don't know where you live and what the job situation is but you'll do fine.
