    No, totally false, I am looking at the 1999 tax table and the rate for 30,000 taxable income was $5,060. The rate for $30,000 taxable income this year is 4,113.

    The figures from your link for single taking the standard deduction are

    Single, income of 30,000

    1999 $3,157.50

    2008 $2,756.25

    Seems like you pulled your numbers out of thin air.

    Yeah, our taxes are lower yet we have money flying out the door to Iraq faster than we can print it. It's all gravy. America is maxing out all it's credit cards. Always feels good...for a while.

    You are correct, and that is why up until very recently America has enjoyed the longest un-interrupted growth period in over 50 years.
