Is World of Warcraft an effective place for evangelism?

I have not played WOW for almost a year. I'm considering reactivating my account for the purpose of sharing the Gospel of Jesus. Do you think people would take the time and listen? And would a christian guild be effective? Let me know what you think.

World of Warcraft is not an effective place for communication of any kind.

I think that would be horrible. But then again those who try and spread the gospel of jesus through tv and video games...aren't really religious anyway. The fact that you want to go where people are trying to escape work / and people like you....only shows that religion is more like a bug....a deadly virus. The fact that religion is a belief....means you can't force someone. They must in fact believe. World of Warcraft doesn't want you and neither does any other mmo. This of course means you'll do it anyway just to raid...and make it sound like you actually care. Don't lie to yourself. Play because you want to have fun...not because you want to be on everyone's ignore list.

I know if I was leading a party and one of the members started preaching to me or anyone else in my group, I would instantly warn or kick you out....

World of Warcraft is a fantasy environment. Jesus (if you believe in him) is a real world deity and has very little sway on the way WoW is constructed and played.

I didn't get that crit ambush for 2000 points of damage on the flag carrier in WSG because Jesus was on my side. I didn't beat the boss of Kara with all raid members alive because the will of God smiled on the group.

Jesus doesn't live on Azeroth. He lives in heaven and and on earth inside of the hearts his believers. Leave it that way.

    Sheer numbers wise, sure.

Percentage of the users, not so much.

The maturity level of WoW is rather low. There are enough people that you will find people who have an adequate level of comprehension and decency, but you'll have to sort through alot of rude and inappropriate attitudes.

    /surprised!

You can't go to a place like WoW and spread the gospel there. I don't know about anybody else but I go there to de-stress. A little video game therapy to wind down a hectic day... Not listen to someone tell me I'm going to hell...

    Bad idea.

I don't understand why you feel the need to preach. People obviously know what Christianity is, so why the hell would you want to bug them? If they want to be in your religion, they will of their own will, so stop harassing people!

And I swear if a person preached at me in-game I would get members of the opposite faction to kill them over and over again and corpse-camp them.

Another thought... are you sure you don't just miss the game and are lying to yourself about a reason to go back? Heh.

People playing WoW want to have fun, not listen to a sermon. No, not a good idea if all you want to do is preach your persuasion on there.

    It sounds like a plan!

You'll be able to cry persecution when they suspend your account for harassment, so it's a win-win situation!

It shows how much the world needs the words of God
