Can anyone give me a guesstimate of the LF construction cost of railroad track?
The roads, bridges and utilities I can do a decent estimate on, but I'm at a loss when it comes to the rail.
Just looking for a rule of thumb here (ie my access roadway is $100 lf, the type bridges we are using are $130 sf) for a very preliminary estimate on an industrial access site.
I knew the engineering board wouldnt be the happening place the r/s adn politics boards are, but I was curious if I could get an answer here.
Looks like it is time to call around now.

The accepted rate in the rail industry for construction of mainline railroad track in the US averages about $1 million / mile, everything included.

A single track railroad line with a medium-weight rail (say 90 lb/yard), wooden ties, and 1-inch gravel ballast will cost about $16 per lineal foot, not counting grading and earthworks.
