You're limiting yourself by not wanting to go to the gym but if you just want to stay home there are some basic, beginner's basketball drills you can do to increase speed and vertical. If you're looking for something that requires no workout equipment, a high school basketball 101 drill is to take a basketball and repeatedly bounce it softly off one low side of the backboard while jumping and grabbing at it like a rebound. This can help strengthen and tone your calves and increase vertical leap and vertical leap speed. Regular 'toe-ups' against a wall are another. For horizontal speed, you really can't beat the old defensive stance drill. Get into a standard defensive stance (you should feel a burn in your quadriceps if it's new to you) and shuffle back and forth horizontally. For best results with this, it's good to have a partner directing when you change directions via spontaneous hand signals (or rolling of a basketball away from you) this helps increase your reaction time. Otherwise, enroll in a basketball camp, or buy one of those special "by the pros" videos.
