Cherokee Sport suspension lift options. Worth it?

I’ve got a 2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4x4, 4.0L, 66,000mi

I'm upgrading my stock Jeep with the following suspension and tires:

BDS SUSPENSIONS

Front 3"Coil Spring

Rear 2.5" Block & Add-a-Leaf

...comes with two front Pro-Ride coil springs that are capable of withstanding full coil bind, transfer case drop, extended sway bar links, and a front track bar relocation bracket to properly center your axle. The rear is lifted with a 5/8" block and a long thin add-a-leaf to add height while not creating a harsh ride. I'll be also be adding a set of sway bar disconnects for better articulation. I think I'm going to run 31" X 10.5R15 Mickey Thompson Baja Radials...

The Jeep is a daily driver, but I'd like for it to be capable off road too. My question is, what do these two options (see below) do and are they worth adding to my kit?

Steering Stabilizer Cylinder ($46.11)

Fixed Lower Control Arms ($170.78)

    The heavy-duty steering stabilizer is an excellent investment, especially when running big tires. I recently put a skyjacker stabilizer on my ZJ, the cylinder was about double in size compared to stock. You will notice a huge difference, definitely worth 45 bucks.

    I wouldn't pay $170 for lower control arms.

    Do not do add-a-leaf and blocks. You can get that kind of lift from shackles. Blocks incease axle wrap leading to spring warping. Add-a-leafs sag quickly and make for a harsh ride. I know I did the add-a-leafs first. Now I have a new spring pack in there and the ride is much better. And the fronts able to coil bind doesn't matter. I doubt you'll be able to do that anyway because of the bumpstops and shocks but if you did you'd put your pumkin into the oil pan and have alot of other problems to worry about besides your springs.

    You should laready have a steering stabilizer on the front. They're stock parts and if it's not broke you don't need the new one. DO NOT pay $170 for fixed arms. You can get adjustables for less than that. Even though at that lift height they won't be needed.

    You need to decide on the tire size first - then lift only what you need to clear the tires on full stuff. Lots of Cherokee's will take 30's with no rubbing, 31's have very few contact points. A 2 inch budget kit may be all you need.

    Do the sway bar disco's and adjustable track bar until you determine what else you may require - they are necessary for their own reasons.

    Raising the ride height with a lift kit does create a harsher ride regardless. The spring rates go up, the suspension links are angled and transmit more shock to the unibody, the elevation reduces the safe angle you can sidehill. Cherokee's are much more capable off road compared to the late model IFS stuff, they actually need less to do even better.

    Steering Stabilizer will help dampen any road vibrations and any sudden steering wheel movement if you were to hit something while off road, I think that would be worth it.

    The LCA's are probably a different length than the stock ones, and a little stronger. The length is to correct the angles after the lift and re-center the axle, but you can do the same thing with drop brackets. Most after market LCA's are only a quater to half inch longer than stock, if you decide to skip them I doubt you'd ever notice. If you go up into the big lift sizes like 4.5" and up I'd get either long arms or at least adjustable lowers.

    As far as the Fixed lower control arms, if you plan on lifting it higher in the future I would invest in adjustable control arms.

    As for the add a leaf, a new full leaf pack would be a better investment. Though having no personal experience, I have always heard add a leaves will sag quicker than than a new leaf pack.

    I am planning on a 3.5" Rubicon Express lift myself with 31x10.50 Truxxus MTs.
