yo get a leopard gecko because not only are they better looking but easy to care for. they take crap at the same place soo there are already pottie trained.

here are some basics how to care for one

you should get a 10 gallon tank for one leopard gecko but if you are getting more then one get a 20 or 30 gallon tank(WARNING never have two males in the same tank they will kill each other)

you need a heat lamp or a heat light on one side (you dont need any special lighting like a uv light because they are a nocturnal) there should be a cool side and a hot side. put a thermometer on each side.(WARNING dont use a heat rock)

for the bottom of the tank put a paper towel or newspaper or something else (dont use sand beacuse they can get impacted)

you need 2 hides for each the cool side and the hot side and you also need a moist hide (can be made of a plastic container and put warm water in it and put a warm wet paper towel on the bottom )you need a moist hide soo that they can shed better.

have a water bowl and clean it every other day and have a food bowl(unless your feeding them crickets)

feed them crickets, mealworms, wax worms only feed wax worm about a once a week not very good for them a lot of fat.

put calcium powder on your cricket or mealworms.

now for decoration put a log or vines for them to exercise

    good luck

    PCE!

hard one to come by there, as with most reptiles, you need to maintain a certain temp; ether through lighting or heating pads.but to be honest, i'd recommend a ball python. i've got two at home, Bane and Roman. balls are very easy to take care of, as long as you dont mind feeding them live prey. some ball python owners feed theirs dead, the choice is ultimatly up to the owner, and snake..balls love to be handled, but you need to make sure you know everything about one before getting one...so read on!when you do go to a reptile shop:let the snake choose you, what i mean by this, the snake will actually ether wrap around your hand or about your neck gently. mine did this when i first picked them up, and they wouldnt go back to the shop owner...for bedding in the tank, i  recommend aspen bedding. it's comfy for them, also when you feed them(which should be done away from where they live! box, or a small tank 10 gallon)) you can use this to bed where they feed, as with aspen bedding it wont hurt them if digested.get a heating pad, not a heating rock! i've seen more reptiles burned with heating rocks compared to pads..the pad needs to be placed under the tank...i normally put a thin washcloth between the tank and pad, the snake still gets plenty of warmth, without worrying about burns.

as far as feeding goes, start out on pinkies(baby mice) the size of the mouse or rat should be no bigger than the snake is round at mid point on his/her belly.

have the snake sexxed when you buy it. most reptile dealers will do this for you free of charge when buying a baby ball python. dont attempt this on your own, you could hurt the snake.

when your at the reptile shop, you'll need a house they can grow with, a water container, and find a large stick to place in the tank they can explore on, and they'll use it for shedding too.

one other thing, look into buying tank locks, or place something heavy atop the tank, as most balls try to get free from time to time..

if you have anymore questions, email me...

    hope this helped!

  • you just basically described a crested gecko or a gargoyle gecko

Edit:BTW Mike P a bearded dragon is way too big for a thirty gallon tall tank

A ball python can live under these conditions if you can take it outside or next to an open window to suck in some sunlight. but all reptiles need heat and humidity your not goig to find a reptile that can survive under those conditions. Most reptiles need heat in the mid 80's and higher and humidity varies from repti to repti
