Did you get the engine to turn over by jumping the starter solenoid?

If so, check the main fuse and ignition switch.

    Check for spark -

    Remove a spark plug cap.

Insert a working spark plug into it.

Lay the threads of the plug against a metal part of the engine and try to start the engine.

    The plug should spark.

If no spark, figure out why.

Clean the carburetors - the jets get clogged up when the bike has been sitting with untreated fuel.

Do as guardrail jim said and if no spark, make sure the kill switch and ignition switch are in working order. If necessary, put a jumper wire from the + battery terminal to the + connections on the ignition coils. You'll bypass the ignition and kill switches and you can then rule them out if it still doesn't run.

    Check :

fuses- then check ignition switch. Sometimes with age ignition switches become defective.

Once you have power the lights , indicators and brake light should all work.

If you have that then it should turn over. If not, then youll have to investigate the ignition circuit.

Get a Haynes manual for it.
